IT Tech & Sim Support Specialist
The IT Tech & Sim Support Specialist provides advanced Tier 2 technical support for classroom and back-office operations, including managing and maintaining simulation lab equipment and software. This role supports multiple campus locations, supervises student workers, and ensures the operational readiness of simulation and classroom technology to enhance academic delivery. The position requires hands-on troubleshooting, vendor coordination, and participation in training to maintain high standards of technical support within a hybrid work environment.

What You’ll Do
This role delivers Tier 1 and Tier 2 technical support for campus IT and simulation (SimCare) environments. You will support classroom and lab technology, coordinate equipment maintenance, and provide intermediate-level simulation center support (approximately 10 hours/week).
- Provide Tier 1 & Tier 2 desktop, AV, and lab support for campus and associated remote locations
- Coordinate daily inspections of classroom and lab equipment and submit/track repair tickets
- Build and deploy images and software packages
- Troubleshoot hardware, OS, printers, and standard classroom AV setups (podium PCs, projectors, displays)
- Assist and supervise student workers and temporary staff supporting the student help desk
- Maintain lab security, inventory, and ensure equipment meets academic delivery requirements
- Support network, server, and telecommunication troubleshooting as needed
- Act as on-site liaison for facilities/vendor coordination
- Respond to short‑notice requests and service calls; set up equipment for training and simulation events
- Participate in training, evaluate lab environments, and recommend improvements
- Provide intermediate-level SimCare support for simulators, manikins, SimPads, link boxes, WOW carts, Simbay/Control Room equipment, and related AV/systems
- Perform other duties as assigned and follow standard operating guides and compliance requirements
Qualifications
Ideal candidates will combine hands-on technical skills with experience supporting classroom or simulation environments.
- Associate degree in a technical field preferred
- Minimum 2 years of desktop/help-desk support experience (required)
- Minimum 2 years working with Microsoft Active Directory in a large network environment (required)
- Entry-level experience with networking, data, and voice systems (required)
- Experience supporting classroom AV or lab equipment (preferred)
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft operating systems, installation, and troubleshooting
- Advanced PC troubleshooting skills and experience with hardware/software installation in networked environments
- Printer troubleshooting and basic repair knowledge
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs; occasional evening or weekend work may be required
- Must achieve SimCare Technical Support Certification by completing Laerdal, Gaumard, and Learning Space training (required)
- A+ and MCP certifications preferred
Location & Schedule
- Work location: Fairview, TN (on-site / hybrid as required). The role operates on a hybrid schedule with multiple in-office days per week; expect collaboration-focused on-site presence and support for scheduled simulation events.
Compensation & Benefits
In support of pay-transparency practices, the expected salary range for this position is $38,894.07 to $68,341.37 per year. Actual pay will be based on job-related factors permitted by law (experience, training, certifications, geographic location, market factors, etc.).
