Role Overview

This entry-level IT Systems Engineer role supports a confidential client’s program-level Digital Engineering Ecosystem (DEE). You will assist senior engineers in designing, integrating, testing, documenting, and sustaining the program IT baseline—gaining hands-on exposure to virtualization, cloud, MBSE tools, requirement management (DOORS), and standard systems‑engineering activities. This is an on-site position in Melbourne, FL and requires an active or recent US Government Secret clearance and U.S. citizenship.


Key Responsibilities

  • Support development of IT technical baseline and system design (planning → design → integration → testing → production release → sustainment)
  • Assist in delivering Systems Engineering Management Plan (SEMP) artifacts
  • Help define, trace, allocate, and manage IT technical requirements through the lifecycle
  • Contribute to DEE architecture updates to ensure stakeholder access to program authoritative sources of truth (data & models)
  • Participate on project teams to design and implement secure OS, network, and COTS software solutions
  • Support basic risk assessments and document recommended upgrades
  • Support configuration management (hardware, software, firmware) and Infrastructure Configuration Control Board processes
  • Maintain antivirus/signature currency and conduct automated system scans
  • Work with IT Asset Management to track hardware and software inventories, backups, disaster recovery, and patch compliance
  • Execute test plans, trace requirements, and record verification results
  • Create simple architecture diagrams and assist with MBSE/DOORS artifacts

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in STEM or Business and ~2 years relevant experience, OR Master’s degree with 0 years (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
  • 0–3 years IT or Systems Engineering experience (including internships/co‑ops)
  • Hands-on exposure to IT infrastructure, virtualization, or cloud platforms (academic or lab work acceptable)
  • Active US Government Secret clearance (or active within last 24 months) and ability to obtain Top Secret
  • U.S. citizenship (required for cleared roles)
  • Strong written & verbal communication, teamwork, and eagerness to learn

Preferred / Helpful Skills

  • Familiarity with hypervisors (VMware, Hyper‑V) and virtual networking
  • Data-center basics: rack-mount hardware, power/cooling, backup concepts
  • Exposure to AWS, Azure, or GCP (IaaS/PaaS)
  • Networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, firewalls
  • Windows Server and Linux (RHEL/CentOS) administration experience
  • Basic scripting/automation: PowerShell, Bash, or Python
  • Familiarity with MBSE tools (Cameo, Orbus) and DOORS for requirements traceability

Security & Citizenship

  • Must have active US Government Secret (or recent within 24 months) and be able to obtain Top‑Secret as required by program
  • U.S. citizenship required for government‑cleared positions

Compensation & Benefits

  • Primary salary range: $79,300 — $118,900 per year
  • Pay is determined by factors including role scope, experience, education, and market conditions
  • May be eligible for overtime, shift differential, discretionary and/or annual bonuses depending on role
  • Benefits may include health insurance, life/disability insurance, retirement savings plans, paid holidays, and PTO (varies by role and client)

Location & Worksite

  • This position will be filled on site in Melbourne, FL (worksite is not remote)
  • On-site presence is required to meet program and security needs
