Role Overview

Confidential Client is hiring an entry-level IT Support Technician to provide frontline technical support for office and manufacturing environments in Elkwood, VA. This hourly, full-time position supports desktop and laptop hardware, Windows environments, network connectivity, production-floor terminals, and user account administration. Hourly pay: $20.00 – $27.00.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide help-desk support via phone, email, and ticketing system — diagnose and resolve hardware, software, peripheral, and connectivity issues.
• Manage user accounts and access controls (Active Directory / Microsoft Entra ID) including provisioning and password resets.
• Image, configure, deploy, and troubleshoot desktops, laptops, mobile devices, printers and other peripherals; maintain accurate hardware inventory.
• Support manufacturing floor devices and applications (workstations, barcode scanners, specialized terminals).
• Assist with basic infrastructure tasks such as cabling, patching, and network-room support.
• Create and maintain documentation, knowledge-base articles, and standard operating procedures.
• Escalate complex incidents to senior IT staff and participate in after-hours/on-call support as required.

Required Qualifications & Skills

• 0–2 years of hands-on IT support or customer-facing technical experience.
• High school diploma required; associate or bachelor’s degree in IT or related field preferred.
• Familiarity with Windows 10/11 administration and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Basic experience with Active Directory / Microsoft Entra ID and account management.
• Fundamental understanding of network protocols and VPN troubleshooting.
• Working knowledge of IT security best practices.
• Basic MS SQL knowledge is a plus.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting and communication skills; able to explain technical issues to non-technical users.
• Self-starter who can work independently and proactively in fast-paced manufacturing environments.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

• On-site role primarily split between office and manufacturing plant floor.
• Occasional lifting of equipment up to 30–40 lbs (monitors, desktops, printers).
• Direct interaction with manufacturing systems and equipment.
• May require occasional after-hours support.
