Position Overview

Confidential Client (via Careertakes), a company in the IT Services and IT Consulting industry, is seeking an IT Software Engineer for a 10-month contractor engagement in Mossville, IL. This role focuses on REST API development and testing, Azure DevOps user story creation and tracking, database management (SQL), and supporting 5G eSIM management and integration initiatives. You will collaborate with DevOps, backend, software onboarding, dealer portal teams, external vendors, and offshore engineering teams.


What You’ll Do

  • Apply computer science principles to design, develop, test, troubleshoot, and evaluate software and systems.
  • Write, implement, consume, and test REST APIs; coordinate API integration and vendor testing.
  • Create and maintain technical requirements and user stories in Microsoft Azure DevOps; track project progress.
  • Modify and maintain databases and database management systems; develop logical and physical database descriptions.
  • Schedule and run technical test sessions with internal teams and external vendors (including offshore teams in India).
  • Support software testing, troubleshooting, integration, and system implementation activities.
  • Assist with operating-system-level software, compilers, network distribution software, and enterprise applications as needed.
  • Participate in requirements analysis, technical discussions, testing, implementation, and delivery across the SDLC.

Must-Have Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field — OR an Associate’s degree plus 6+ years of relevant experience — OR a Master’s degree (recent grads may be considered).
  • 2–4 years of professional experience in software engineering, development, testing, or a related technical discipline.
  • Hands-on experience with REST APIs (development, implementation, consumption, or testing).
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Azure DevOps for user stories, progress tracking, and project activities.
  • Working knowledge of SQL and Visual Basic.
  • Familiarity with Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) practices.
  • Strong troubleshooting, documentation, communication, and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Comprion test systems.
  • Exposure to 5G, eSIM, telecom, or wireless network technologies.
  • Prior experience working with external vendors and offshore engineering teams.
  • Database development and management experience.
