What You’ll Do
This is an entry-level Cyber Excepted Service (CES) recent-graduate role. You will join a structured development program that combines formal classroom training with on-the-job experience to build practical cybersecurity and IT acquisition skills supporting mission-critical federal operations.
- Participate in a rotational training program to develop cyber and IT acquisition competencies
- Evaluate and support customer needs with an emphasis on acquisition and procurement processes
- Execute standardized IT workflows and directives that support resources and processes across the directorate
- Advise on IT-related acquisition tasks, including management and oversight of procured resources
- Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to develop, deliver, and sustain combat-support IT solutions
- Follow federal cybersecurity and ITSM (IT Service Management) policies and contribute to continuous process improvement
Minimum Qualifications & Eligibility
Applicants must meet Recent Graduate (CES) eligibility requirements and the Basic Qualification requirement below.
- Recent Graduate eligibility: degree or certificate from an accredited institution within the previous 2 years — OR veterans who were unable to apply due to service obligations (veterans have up to 6 years from degree completion; DD-214 required)
- Degree requirement (one of the following):
- Degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management
- OR a degree that included at least 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields above and required development or adaptation of applications, systems, or networks
- Transcripts required; minimum cumulative GPA 2.50 (absence of transcripts or GPA will result in ineligible rating)
- Veterans must provide DD-214 to validate veteran eligibility
Experience Requirements (by GG level)
Your resume must describe at least one year of experience (paid or unpaid, including military service or volunteer work) that demonstrates the competencies necessary for immediate success.
- GG-7: Assisting with documentation or tracking of ITSM processes (e.g., routine change requests, configuration data, gathering metrics)
- GG-9: Executing standardized ITSM workflows (e.g., processing change requests, maintaining CMDB accuracy)
- GG-11: Formulating recommendations for IT policies or enterprise improvements; analyzing infrastructure risk and coordinating mitigations with stakeholders
Candidates must explicitly describe how their resume meets the qualifying experience for the targeted GG level.
Conditions & Additional Information
- CES interns are not eligible for conversion to career/career-conditional appointment in the Competitive Service; non-competitive conversion to designated CES positions may be available
- Trial/probationary period may be required if not previously completed in excepted/competitive service

Compensation & Benefits
- Estimated salary: $63,177 per year (estimated)
