Overview
Confidential Client is seeking an entry-level IT Business Analyst based in Newark, NJ. This role bridges business stakeholders and IT teams to gather and document requirements, support functional design, and assist with testing and delivery activities. This is a strong opportunity for early-career professionals who want hands-on experience in requirements gathering, process analysis, and software delivery.
Responsibilities
- Gather and document business and technical requirements from stakeholders
- Assist in analyzing business processes and identifying improvement opportunities
- Translate business requirements into functional specifications, BRDs, and user stories
- Collaborate with development, QA, and project teams through the software development lifecycle
- Participate in meetings, workshops, and sprint planning sessions
- Support testing activities, including user acceptance testing (UAT)
- Track project progress to help ensure requirements are implemented correctly
- Prepare clear, maintainable documentation for stakeholders and delivery teams
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Information Technology, Finance, Economics, or a related field
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Clear written and verbal communication skills; ability to document requirements and specs
- Basic knowledge of data analysis and reporting tools (spreadsheets, BI or reporting tools)
- Comfortable working both independently and as part of a cross-functional team
- Interest in Agile/Scrum environments and exposure to user stories or sprint planning is a plus
Preferred / Nice to have
- Internship or project experience in business analysis, IT, or related fields
- Familiarity with tools such as JIRA, Confluence, Excel/Google Sheets, or basic SQL
- Experience supporting UAT or QA activities
- Coursework or certification in business analysis (e.g., CBAP/CCBA) or Agile fundamentals
