The IT and Security Support Specialist works closely with the Vice President of Information Security and IT teams to provide first-line technical support and assist in security operations. This role involves managing user accounts, monitoring security alerts, performing system maintenance, and supporting end users in a collaborative, mentorship-driven environment. The position is on-site in Schaumburg, IL, offering hands-on experience in IT and cybersecurity within a dynamic team setting.

What You’ll Do
Confidential Client is hiring an entry-level IT and Security Support Specialist to serve as the first line of response for technical support and security operations. You will work closely with the Vice President of Information Security, the IT Systems Administrator, and the Information Security Lead in a collaborative, mentored environment.
- Act as the primary point of contact for resolving user hardware, software, and network connectivity issues; escalate complex incidents to the Systems Administrator or InfoSec Lead.
- Manage user provisioning, modification, and de-provisioning: create accounts, assign permissions, and maintain appropriate access controls.
- Monitor systems for security alerts and assist with basic triage of potential security incidents.
- Ensure endpoint protection tools are deployed, active, and kept up to date on user devices.
- Support routine IT maintenance with the Systems Administrator: system patching, hardware deployment, asset inventory tracking, and software updates.
- Provide end-user support for software and email issues.
- Support on-premises Active Directory and cloud Entra ID/Azure identity environments.
- Stay current on IT and security trends, contributing suggestions to improve processes and security posture.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Information Security, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Prior internship or hands-on experience in IT support, helpdesk, or cybersecurity; ~1 year of professional experience is a strong plus.
- Familiarity with directory services and identity management: Active Directory and/or Entra ID/Azure.
- Basic understanding of networking concepts, firewalls, web proxies, SIEM, email systems, and vulnerability management.
- Experience or knowledge of patch management processes and the ability to balance timely patch deployment with business impact.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Good knowledge of the current IT threat landscape and emerging trends.
- Strong oral and written communication, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work with users and management at all levels.
Location & Schedule
- This role is onsite 5 days per week in Schaumburg, IL.
- Lift up to 50 lbs as required for hardware deployment and asset handling.
Employment Type & Compensation
- Employment type: Permanent, Full-time.
- Estimated compensation (provided by source): $72,644 per year (estimated). Actual pay may vary based on experience and qualifications.
