Role overview
This is an early-career Investment Associate opportunity supporting private capital transactions for a Confidential Client. You will join a small deal team and contribute directly to commercial diligence, financial modeling, valuation, and investment committee materials. Ideal candidates are analytically strong, fast learners, and eager to work on live deals and portfolio value-creation.
What You’ll Do
As an Investment Associate – Private Capital, you will support deal execution and portfolio management. Typical responsibilities include:
- Build and audit detailed financial models (3-statement, DCF, LBOs, sensitivity analysis)
- Analyze returns, capital structure, downside scenarios, and exit pathways
- Prepare valuation analyses using comparables, precedent transactions, and other methods
- Support diligence across financial, commercial, operational, and legal workstreams
- Analyze target company financials, KPIs, customer cohorts, and unit economics
- Conduct industry and competitive research to identify trends and risks
- Draft and refine investment memos and presentations for the Investment Committee
- Summarize diligence findings and articulate investment theses and key risks
- Support portfolio teams with dashboards, KPI tracking, and performance analysis
- Assist with bolt-on acquisition analysis, refinancing scenarios, and exit planning
Qualifications
Representative qualifications Confidential Clients in our network typically seek:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Engineering, Math, or related field
- Very strong Excel skills; comfortable building and auditing complex models
- Solid foundation in corporate finance, accounting, and valuation
- Prior internships or full-time experience in investment banking, PE/VC, consulting, or corporate finance is a plus (not always required for exceptional candidates)
- Demonstrated interest in investing, deals, and business analysis (relevant projects, clubs, coursework, self-study, or side projects)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to present data-backed conclusions
Location & Work Model
Location: Los Angeles, CA. Final work model (onsite, hybrid) will be determined by the Confidential Client and may vary by role.
Estimated comp (from source): $105,507 per year (estimated).
