What You’ll Do
Confidential Client is hiring an experienced technician to support materials processing and fabrication work within a Materials Fabrication Facility. This hands-on role focuses on laboratory-scale metal processing and shop operations under the direction of engineers and senior technicians.
- Perform air and vacuum heat treatment of metal alloys
- Support basic metal forming operations such as rolling and forging
- Participate in metal alloy melting (induction and/or arc melting)
- Perform supervised acid/chemical surface treatments (etching, pickling, anodizing)
- Set up and operate equipment according to written procedures and sponsor specifications
- Record process parameters and results accurately in logs, databases, or Microsoft Office tools
- Assist with basic troubleshooting and preventive maintenance on mechanical and electrical systems
- Support safe operation of mechanical vacuum pumps, diffusion pumps, hydraulic systems, and PLC/HMI-controlled equipment as trained
- Communicate with engineering staff and work sponsors during job scoping, pre-job briefings, and task completion
Key Qualifications
Required combination of education and experience — one of the following:

High school diploma or equivalent + minimum 4 years relevant experience; or

Associate degree in a related field + minimum 2 years relevant experience; or

Journeyman’s papers in a related field + minimum 2 years relevant experience; or

Qualification as a Naval Nuclear Propulsion Operator (or commercial nuclear equivalent) + minimum 2 years relevant experience; or

Bachelor’s degree in a related field

Preferred Skills
- Prior experience with heat treatment processes (air or vacuum furnaces), metal forming, alloy melting, and/or acid/chemical surface treatments
- Mechanical or electrical aptitude demonstrated via coursework, hands-on work, or hobby projects
- Experience troubleshooting and performing preventive maintenance on vacuum pumps, diffusion pumps, hydraulic systems, PLCs/HMI, and electrical systems
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
- Familiarity with metal alloys and additively manufactured materials
- Knowledge of basic safety practices (electrical safety, arc flash awareness, LOTO, chemical handling and disposal, appropriate PPE)
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, SharePoint)

- Pay Range: $63,900 - $97,800 per year (salary varies by experience and qualifications)
