What You’ll Do

Our confidential client is hiring an Interior Designer to support healthcare-focused renovation and construction projects on-site at a VA facility near Fort Bliss, TX. You will support senior designers and project managers across planning, documentation, procurement, installation, and activation tasks that ensure compliance with VA standards and healthcare design best practices.

  • Support Senior Interior Designers and project managers with interior design services for healthcare facilities
  • Assist project coordination from concept through installation for renovations, capital improvements, and new construction
  • Prepare construction documents, finish schedules, furniture plans, material boards, specifications, and presentation materials
  • Support FF&E planning: inventories, procurement support, installation coordination, and asset tracking
  • Coordinate finishes and interior elements: paint, flooring, ceilings, lighting, wall coverings, casework, window treatments, curtains, artwork
  • Develop and maintain finish schedules, Room Data Sheets (RDS), material libraries, and PRC/SEPS documentation
  • Assist with space planning to support patient care workflows, accessibility, and operational efficiency
  • Review finish samples, shop drawings, submittals, and mockups for compliance with project specifications
  • Participate in site visits, punch walks, installation inspections and field verification to confirm design intent
  • Assist with project activation (furniture install, departmental relocations, turnover documentation, O&M manuals)
  • Maintain project files, budgets, schedules, vendor contacts, and material libraries
  • Coordinate with architects, engineers, contractors, vendors, and facility staff throughout design and construction
  • Research and recommend durable, maintainable, infection-preventive materials and furnishings appropriate for healthcare settings
  • Perform other interior design and project support duties as assigned

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, or closely related field from an accredited program
  • 1–3 years professional interior design experience preferred; healthcare experience is a strong plus
  • Internship or entry-level experience on commercial, institutional, or healthcare projects helpful
  • Working knowledge of interior design principles, space planning, color theory, furniture systems, and finish materials
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office, and Adobe Creative Suite preferred
  • Experience with construction documents, finish schedules, specifications, and FF&E documentation preferred
  • Basic understanding of building codes, ADA accessibility, life-safety standards, and healthcare design guidelines
  • Strong organization, time management, and ability to support multiple projects concurrently
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills and ability to collaborate on multidisciplinary teams
  • Ability to conduct site visits and furniture/finish inspections as required
  • Ability to learn and apply VA design standards, space planning processes, and facility activation requirements

Compensation & Benefits

  • Pay range: $40.00 to $45.00 per hour (contract, full-time)
  • Benefits (as offered by the client): 80 hours PTO (accrued), medical, dental, vision, short-term disability, long-term disability, critical illness, and accident coverage
  • Contract employment with on-site presence required at the Fort Bliss / El Paso VA campus area

Worksite & Security Requirements

  • On-site work at a federal/military facility; possession of a valid REAL ID is required in accordance with federal regulations
  • Candidates must successfully pass a drug test and a thorough background investigation for access to a military installation (background checks may extend beyond seven years per federal guidelines)
  • Must satisfy all applicable federal, VA, and facility-specific credentialing and clearance requirements
