What You’ll Do

Responsible to the assigned supervisor for performing complex engineering work activities and projects that apply engineering knowledge to deliver safe, reliable generation solutions. Work is performed under supervision and may include portions of larger engineering projects.

Key responsibilities include:

• Assist higher-level engineers to analyze and resolve well-defined problems related to instrumentation and controls for generation assets.
• Apply and develop familiarity with industry standards, codes, regulations, equipment and systems relevant to generation instrumentation and controls.
• Contribute to routine project planning, scheduling, and cost estimating using established methods (CPM, PERT, flow charts).
• Support preparation of technical reports, documentation, and drawings.
• Coordinate work activities with other engineers, technicians, and vendors to complete assigned tasks on time and within scope.
• Participate in troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, testing, and commissioning of control and instrumentation systems.
• Use initiative to suggest process improvements and contribute to design reviews and safety-focused engineering decisions.

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications (entry-level / Engineer grade):

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program and two or more years of related engineering experience.
• Master’s degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program may be considered for entry at this level.
• Individuals with a Bachelor’s in Engineering Technology may meet the requirement if they obtain a certified Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• Acceptable alternative: Bachelor’s degree in engineering (non-ABET) plus a Master’s or PhD in engineering from a university with an ABET-accredited Bachelor’s program.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly, work on teams, and follow established engineering policies and procedures.

Preferred skills and behaviors:

• Familiarity with instrumentation and control systems used in generation environments.
• Basic understanding of industry codes and safety regulations.
• Strong problem-solving, planning, and organizational abilities.
• Willingness to take initiative and grow technical leadership skills.

Compensation & Benefits

Compensation ranges for the position (by grade level):

• Engineer / Engineer Technologist: $87,633.00 – $109,542.00 per year
• Engineer / Engineer Technologist Sr: $98,993.00 – $128,688.00 per year
• Engineer / Engineer Technologist Principal: $116,255.00 – $151,132.00 per year

Working Conditions & Physical Demands

Work is primarily sedentary (Physical Demand Level S). Roles may require occasional lifting up to 10 pounds and occasional walking or standing. Work is performed in generation facilities, offices, and occasionally in the field; appropriate PPE and safety procedures apply.
