Position Overview
Confidential Client is hiring an entry-level Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Engineer I to support design, documentation, and implementation of instrumentation and control systems for gas turbine and power-plant projects. This role is ideal for early-career engineers or recent grads who want hands-on I&C experience, mentorship from senior engineers, and exposure to industry-standard tools and standards.
What You’ll Do
- Support review of customer requirements and project specifications.
- Help develop instrumentation procurement schedules and prepare RFQs.
- Assist in preparation of technical specifications and evaluate vendor quotes under supervision.
- Verify instrumentation against P&IDs and maintain instrument indexes/lists.
- Create and update instrument loops, datasheets, and instrumentation drawings.
- Support I/O list development and related documentation.
- Help resolve customer comments and update drawings/documents.
- Collaborate with internal teams: design, operations, procurement, and sales.
- Support supplier and contractor communications as directed.
- Contribute to development and maintenance of I&C procedures and checklists.
- Participate in troubleshooting and field support when required.
- Learn and apply applicable industry codes and standards (ISA, ANSI/NEMA, NFPA, AGA, etc.).
- Assist with vendor qualification activities and other duties as assigned.
Who You Are (Minimum Qualifications)
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (or equivalent experience).
- Typically 0–3 years of relevant experience; internships and co-ops are considered.
- Basic understanding of instrumentation and control concepts.
- Familiarity or willingness to learn control systems such as Netmation, MK5/MK6, T3000, Ovation, DeltaV, SIMATIC.
- Basic knowledge of instrumentation devices: pressure, temperature (RTD/thermocouple), level, flow, valves.
- Basic understanding of P&IDs, I/O concepts, and signal types.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Willingness to learn and grow within the I&C discipline.
- Willingness to travel up to 5–10%.
Preferred / Nice-to-have
- Exposure to power generation or industrial systems.
- Hands-on or exposure to engineering tools such as SPI (SmartPlant Instrumentation).
- Internships or academic projects in instrumentation, controls, or power systems.
