About the Role
This is an entry-level Instrumentation & Controls Engineer position with a target start date in Spring & Summer 2027. You will join a multidisciplinary engineering team working on nuclear instrumentation and controls (I&C) projects — integrating electrical, computer, and mechanical disciplines with control theory to modernize and digitize power plants.
What You’ll Do
- Work on multi-discipline nuclear power plant instrumentation and controls projects that span sensors, digital controllers, network topology, HMI/touchscreen displays, pumps, valves, heat exchangers, turbines, and reactor systems.
- Prepare technical specifications and engineering calculations for procurement of I&C equipment.
- Support design reviews, coordinate with clients and vendors, and perform field verification at plant sites as required.
- Contribute to engineering deliverables under mentoring and classroom-style technical training.
- Document design work and technical analyses clearly, and participate in multidisciplinary team meetings.
Qualifications
- Required:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s of Science degree in engineering with coursework in analog and digital control systems, systems engineering, mechatronics, or robotics.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with MS Office applications.
- Preferred (valued but not required):
- Degree from an ABET-accredited engineering program.
- Prior internship or co-op experience in a related engineering role.
- Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam or Engineer-in-Training designation.

AI & Automation Expectations
- Use data and modern tools to take engineering problems from issue to solution, improving workflows and reducing rework.
- Appropriate use of automation and AI is encouraged to improve efficiency; strong engineering judgment and verification are required when using AI tools.
- Programming or scripting (e.g., Python, MATLAB, advanced Excel) to automate calculations, checks, reporting, or data transformation is valued but not required.
- Additional study or certificates in Computer Science, AI, or Software Engineering that help apply automation or agentic AI to engineering problems are a plus.
Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary range: $62,998 – $90,586 per year.
- Comprehensive benefits typically include medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, 401(k), FSA/HSA, paid vacation and holidays, paid parental leave, tuition assistance, and other work-life programs.
- Eligible employees may participate in discretionary annual bonuses and other recognition programs.
