Inside Sales & Process Lab Assistant
The Inside Sales & Process Lab Assistant is an entry-level role supporting Regional Sales Managers with equipment quotations, project coordination, and customer communication while gaining hands-on experience in mass finishing processes. This position combines office-based sales support with practical process development lab work, providing a comprehensive understanding of mass finishing equipment, media, compounds, and finishing techniques to effectively support customers and sales projects.

Key Responsibilities
This role combines inside-sales support with hands-on process development lab work. You will support Regional Sales Managers while learning mass-finishing equipment, media, compounds, and finishing processes.
Inside Sales & Project Support
- Support Regional Sales Managers with equipment quotations, proposals, and sales documentation.
- Gather technical and commercial information to produce accurate quotations.
- Coordinate project-related communication between the Regional Sales Manager, customer, and factory/headquarters.
- Track open technical, commercial, and scheduling items and follow up as needed.
- Maintain organized project documentation and help track quotations and active sales projects.
- Communicate professionally with customers and internal teams.
- Provide additional sales support tasks as requested.
Process Development Lab Support
- Learn fundamentals of mass finishing processes including deburring, edge radiusing, surface smoothing, cleaning, and polishing.
- Assist with process development test trials for customer parts submitted for evaluation.
- Learn selection and use of appropriate equipment, media, compounds, and process parameters under direction.
- Load and unload equipment with media, compounds, and customer parts.
- Operate development equipment following procedures and safety practices.
- Monitor trials and document cycle times, settings, media/compound choices, and resulting part condition.
- Clean and help maintain the process development lab and equipment.
Customer Part & Sample Management
- Receive, check in, and manage customer parts submitted for testing.
- Maintain an accurate tracking system showing when parts were received, tested, completed, and shipped.
- Properly identify, organize, and store customer parts to prevent loss or mix-ups.
- Coordinate packaging and shipment of completed samples and processed parts.
- Keep records of incoming and outgoing parts and shipments.
Process Development Reports
- Prepare test reports summarizing trials and results.
- Document equipment used, media/compound selections, parameters, cycle times, and results.
- Take and organize before-and-after photos when appropriate.
- Deliver complete test reports and supporting information to the responsible Regional Sales Manager.
- Help maintain a searchable historical database of completed trials for future reference.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering Technology, Manufacturing Technology, Industrial Technology, or related field is a plus.
- Entry-level candidates are encouraged to apply; prior mass finishing experience is not required.
- Strong willingness to learn both technical and commercial sides of an industrial manufacturing business.
- Mechanical aptitude and interest in manufacturing equipment and processes.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
- Comfortable working independently and collaboratively with sales, customers, and technical staff.
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Ability and willingness to perform both office responsibilities and hands-on lab work.
Physical & Work Environment Requirements
- Ability to work safely around industrial equipment and process development machinery.
- Ability to load and unload parts, media, compounds, and related materials.
- Ability to lift and handle materials with appropriate equipment or assistance when required.
- Comfortable working in environments that may involve water, process compounds, media, noise, and industrial equipment.
- Willingness to follow safety procedures and use required personal protective equipment.
