What You’ll Do

Provide high-quality direct nursing care to patients in an inpatient setting while working collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams. You will assess patient needs, develop and implement individualized care plans, deliver safe and evidence-based interventions, document thoroughly in the electronic health record, and participate in quality improvement and patient-safety initiatives.

  • Deliver patient-centered inpatient nursing care
  • Perform timely assessments and develop/update care plans
  • Administer medications and treatments per policy and scope of practice
  • Respond to emergencies and assist with procedures
  • Communicate clearly with patients, families, and the care team
  • Maintain accurate, timely EHR documentation

Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive nursing assessments and monitor patient status
  • Administer medications, IV therapies, and treatments safely
  • Create and update individualized nursing care plans
  • Provide patient and family education and discharge planning
  • Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and ancillary staff to coordinate care
  • Supervise and mentor licensed practical nurses and nursing assistants when applicable
  • Adhere to infection control, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements
  • Participate in unit-based performance improvement and evidence-based practice activities
  • Precept new staff and contribute to professional development activities

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must meet applicable licensure, education, and competency standards for the role and grade level.

  • Current, full, active, and unrestricted RN license in a U.S. state, territory, or the District of Columbia (South Carolina license required for practice in SC)
  • Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing (ACEN or CCNE accreditation) or equivalent credentials recognized by the hiring authority
  • English language proficiency sufficient for safe patient care and documentation
  • Graduate Nurse Technician (GNT) exception: candidates who meet education requirements but lack RN licensure may be appointed temporarily while pursuing licensure (per policy)
  • Ability to pass background checks, drug screening, and required health screenings (e.g., TB, immunizations)

Grade-level guidance (examples; final assignment depends on assessment and experience):

  • Nurse I, Level I — ADN/diploma; entry-level clinical responsibilities
  • Nurse I, Level II — ADN/diploma + 1 year specialized nursing experience OR BSN
  • Nurse I, Level III — ADN/diploma + 2 years (one year equivalent to Level II) OR BSN + 1 year experience OR MSN
  • Nurse II / Nurse III — Advanced degrees and progressive specialized experience as detailed in the qualification standard

Preferred Qualifications

  • Medical-surgical inpatient experience (highly preferred)
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or higher
  • Prior experience with electronic health record systems
  • Experience in quality improvement, leadership, or precepting
  • Experience with the confidential client’s systems or federal health settings is a plus

Salary & Employment Type

  • Salary range: $80,126 - $145,031 per year (range provided by confidential client; final pay depends on grade, experience, and applicable policies)
  • Employment type: Full time, Contractor (per the confidential client posting)
  • Pay and benefits are administered by the confidential client and follow relevant US laws and regulations

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

  • Visual acuity, clear speech, and good hearing required
  • Periods of walking, standing, stooping, sitting, bending, pulling, and pushing
  • Potential exposure to infectious patients/materials; appropriate PPE may be required
  • Occasional exposure to combative patients (e.g., delirium, dementia)
  • Flexibility in schedule and assignments; occasional travel for off-site training may be required
