Position overview
Confidential Client is seeking an Infrastructure Security Analyst (Entry-level / I) to join their IT team in Cincinnati, OH. This role focuses on monitoring infrastructure security, supporting incident response, and helping implement technical controls to protect networks, servers, endpoints and cloud components. This is a contract, full-time role offering on-the-job mentorship, professional development, and comprehensive benefits.
What you’ll do
The Infrastructure Security Analyst will work with IT and security teams to detect and remediate threats across infrastructure components and support ongoing security operations.
- Monitor security alerts and logs from firewalls, IDS/IPS, endpoints, and other infrastructure systems to identify potential threats and anomalies.
- Assist in investigation and escalation of security incidents, documenting findings and next steps.
- Support deployment, configuration and maintenance of security tools (firewalls, endpoint protection, IDS/IPS, SIEM).
- Conduct vulnerability scans and assist with remediation tracking and validation.
- Help translate security policies into basic technical controls and device configurations under direction of the Network Infrastructure Manager.
- Participate in security audits, compliance checks, and process improvements.
- Maintain current knowledge of emerging threats, tooling and best practices.
- Provide Tier 1–2 user support for security-related issues during peak helpdesk needs and occasional after-hours incident response or maintenance.
Required qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity or related field.
- Minimum of two years’ experience providing technical support to end users or infrastructure.
- Solid understanding of network protocols, operating systems, and common security principles.
- Working knowledge of security monitoring tools and basic incident response processes.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and written/verbal communication skills.
- Willingness to work occasional after-hours for incident response or maintenance windows.
- Ability to travel occasionally for projects or training.
Preferred qualifications
- Security certifications such as CompTIA Security+, Cisco CCNA Security, or equivalent.
- Experience with vulnerability assessment, interpreting security data and identifying infrastructure weaknesses.
- Familiarity with cloud security concepts (AWS, Azure) and infrastructure security controls.
- Basic scripting or automation skills (Python, PowerShell, Bash).
- Understanding of regulatory frameworks such as NIST, ISO 27001 or GDPR.
- Prior internship or hands-on experience in a security operations center (SOC) or similar environment.
Working conditions & physical requirements
- Primarily desk-based work; may require extended periods at a computer workstation.
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
- Occasional after-hours availability required for incident response or maintenance windows.

Compensation & additional info
- Pay range: $34.60 - $43.30 per hour (final pay based on experience, location, and qualifications).
- Eligible for annual bonus.
