Position Overview
Confidential Client is seeking an Information Technology Specialist (OS) at the NF-03 level to support operating system installation, configuration, operation, and maintenance for systems at a federal installation in West Point, NY. This is a full-time, permanent position requiring a Secret security clearance and adherence to federal pre-employment checks.
What You’ll Do
- Perform entry-level, structured assignments supporting installation, configuration, operation, and maintenance of operating systems under the direction of a senior specialist.
- Apply industry-standard procedures and guidelines for OS administration, upgrades, patches, and fixes.
- Gather and analyze facts, document findings, and communicate factual/procedural information clearly.
- Participate in report and briefing preparation and contribute to team projects and evaluations of system enhancements.
- Apply information security and information assurance policies, principles, and practices in daily operations.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience, education, or training demonstrating basic IT knowledge in:
- Software design principles and methods
- Evaluating functionality and operability of current operating environments
- Operating systems installation and configuration procedures
- Secret security clearance (or ability to obtain/maintain one) — position requires a Tier III background investigation.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen, National, or otherwise meet the eligibility criteria specified by federal hiring rules for this vacancy.
- Conditions of employment:
- Direct Deposit and Social Security Card required.
- Satisfactory completion of E-Verify and other pre-employment checks (per AR 215-3 where applicable).
- A one-year probationary period may be required.
- Must possess and maintain a state-issued driver’s license.
- Medical exam required; must be able to lift/move up to 40 pounds.
- Resumes should be two pages or less and clearly show relevant experience and education. Supporting documentation (transcripts, degrees, certifications) should be available for submission.
- Bachelor’s degree in a computer- or technology-related field is highly preferred but not required.
Compensation & Work Details
- Salary: $65,000 - $75,000 per year (NAF pay band; final salary determined by hiring manager based on experience and education).
- Employment type: Full-time, Permanent.
- Pay scale / grade: NF-03 (promotion potential: none).
- Telework eligible: No.
- Relocation expenses: Not authorized.
- Travel: Not required.
- Security clearance: Secret required.
