What You’ll Do

As an Information Systems Security Engineer (Entry Level) supporting a confidential client, you will perform hands-on vulnerability management, security compliance, and continuous monitoring for mission-critical systems. You will configure and maintain Tenable.sc and Nessus, run vulnerability and STIG compliance scans, analyze findings, and coordinate remediation with system administrators and senior ISSEs. You will use Splunk to correlate security data, build dashboards and compliance reports, and support RMF, audits, and assessments.

Key Responsibilities

• Configure, operate, and maintain Tenable.sc and Nessus
• Perform vulnerability and DoD STIG compliance scans; troubleshoot scanning issues
• Triage and analyze security findings; coordinate remediation with system administrators and ISSEs
• Use Splunk to correlate vulnerability/compliance data and develop dashboards and reports
• Support RMF activities, continuous monitoring, patch verification, audits, and assessments
• Develop and refine scanning policies, baselines, and SOPs
• Test and evaluate system configurations in a lab environment
• Provide security operations support and respond to after-hours requests as required in a 24x7 environment

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with vulnerability scanning and security compliance processes
• Hands-on experience with Tenable.sc, Nessus, and Splunk
• Working knowledge of DoD STIGs, RMF, and NIST SP 800-53
• Familiarity with servers, virtualization, routers, switches, firewalls, VLANs, routing, and network segmentation
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to work in cross-functional teams
• Ability to respond to after-hours requests as needed in a mission environment

Education & Experience

Candidates must meet one of the following options:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Assurance, Information Security Systems Engineering, or related discipline; OR
• Associate’s degree in a related discipline plus a technical certification (e.g., Security+) and two (2) years of general IT experience; OR
• High School Diploma/GED and four (4) years of general IT experience, including at least one (1) year of information systems security experience

Federal government ISSE experience of similar scope and complexity is desirable.

Certifications & Clearance

• Active DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II or IASAE Level I compliance required
• Must possess an active TS/SCI with appropriate polygraph to be considered for this role
