What You’ll Do

The Confidential Client is seeking an Industrial Engineer to support plant operations by improving manufacturing processes, equipment, and systems to increase safety, quality, productivity, and cost performance. This role leads process-improvement efforts, supports capital projects, documents standard work, and partners with production, maintenance, quality, and engineering teams.

• Provide engineering support to manufacturing operations through continuous improvement of equipment, processes, and systems
• Lead and coordinate cross-functional process improvement projects with Manufacturing, Maintenance, Quality, and Production
• Define capital project objectives, prepare specifications and layouts, obtain vendor quotes, and build business cases (costs, benefits, schedules)
• Track and manage project execution, coordinate resources, resolve issues, and implement corrective actions to meet targets
• Support installation, startup, and operator training for new manufacturing equipment and processes
• Develop and maintain Standard Work Instructions, preventive maintenance steps, and Lockout/Tagout procedures using company templates and Microsoft Office
• Design and implement quick-changeover (SMED) methods and tooling improvements to reduce setup time
• Analyze manufacturing methods to identify labor and cost reduction opportunities
• Evaluate material handling and facility layouts to improve workflow and throughput
• Apply work measurement and statistical problem-solving to establish and validate production standards and improve process capability
• Recommend and coordinate productivity and profit-improvement initiatives
• Promote safe manufacturing practices and ensure engineering work complies with applicable safety standards and regulations
• Maintain regular and reliable attendance and comply with company policies and applicable laws

Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Production Engineering (preferred)
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Technology with relevant manufacturing experience will also be considered

Experience

• 1–3 years of manufacturing or industrial engineering experience preferred
• Internship or co-op experience in a manufacturing environment is beneficial for entry-level candidates

Other

• Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and communicate technical concepts clearly
• Willingness to work on the plant floor and support shift/startup activities as required

Skills & Tools

• Strong organizational and project coordination skills
• Experience with continuous improvement methods (Lean, SMED, 5S)
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) for documentation and data analysis
• Familiarity with work measurement and time-study techniques
• Comfort using basic statistical tools for root-cause analysis
• Strong problem-solving, documentation, and training skills

• Estimated pay (source data): $150,841 per year (estimated)
• Location: Macomb, IL — on-site at the client’s manufacturing facility
• Employment type: Full-time
