What You’ll Do

This onsite Industrial Engineer will support manufacturing operations at the Canton, NY facility. You will work on the plant floor with production, maintenance, and engineering teams to improve material flow, capacity, labor planning, and equipment utilization. Responsibilities include:

• Support continuous improvement initiatives to raise throughput, productivity, cost-effectiveness, and on-time delivery.
• Conduct time studies and work measurement to develop and maintain labor standards, cycle times, and standard work documentation.
• Analyze capacity, line balance, bottlenecks, and equipment utilization (OEE) to identify constraints and improvement opportunities.
• Evaluate plant layout, material flow, and workstation design to reduce travel, handling, work-in-process, and non-value-added activity.
• Partner with production, maintenance, planning, and engineering teams to troubleshoot flow and capacity issues and support daily manufacturing operations.
• Observe operations and use data analysis to build expertise in the manufacturing system and clearly communicate observations and recommendations in a union manufacturing environment.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering, Industrial & Systems Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related engineering field.
• 0–2 years of relevant experience (including internships, co-ops, research, or entry-level roles) in manufacturing, operations, or industrial engineering.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with clear technical communication.
• Demonstrated interest or experience working in a production/manufacturing environment.
• Ability to learn quickly, adapt to changing priorities, and work effectively on multidisciplinary teams.

Preferred / Desired Experience

• Internship, co-op or hands-on engineering experience in manufacturing, operations, or continuous improvement.
• Exposure to lean manufacturing and structured problem-solving (DMAIC, Kepner-Tregoe, value stream mapping, kaizen).
• Experience with time studies, work measurement, labor standards, or standard work development.
• Familiarity with data analysis and visualization tools (Excel, Minitab, Power BI, SQL).
• Exposure to simulation, capacity modeling, or layout tools (AutoCAD, FlexSim).
• Experience with ERP/MES systems and shop-floor data collection.
• Ability to work effectively with hourly, union-represented production employees.

Logistics & Additional Information

• Location: Canton, NY (on-site). Standard schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.; additional hours as business needs require.
• Travel: Limited (approximately 5–10%) for internal meetings, training, or supplier/customer visits.
• Citizenship requirement: In order to comply with the client’s government contract requirements at this location, if you receive an offer you will need to provide documentation of U.S. citizen status.
• Immigration: This position does not support immigration sponsorship.
• Salary range (full-time): $68,958.00 – $94,817.00. Starting pay depends on job-related factors including location, experience, training, and education.
