Role Overview

Confidential Client is seeking an Industrial Engineer to support onsite manufacturing operations in Canton, NY. This hands-on, full-time role is focused on improving flow, capacity, labor planning, and equipment utilization in a production environment that serves semiconductor, aerospace, and defense applications. The position is Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m., onsite, with occasional additional hours as business needs require. Limited travel (~5–10%) may be required.

What You’ll Do

• Support continuous improvement initiatives to increase throughput, productivity, and on-time delivery while reducing cost and waste
• Conduct time studies and perform work measurement to develop, validate, and maintain labor standards and standard work
• Analyze capacity, line balance, bottlenecks, and equipment utilization (OEE) to identify constraints and improvement opportunities
• Evaluate plant layout, material flow, and workstation design to minimize travel, handling, WIP, and non-value-added activity
• Collaborate closely with production, maintenance, planning, and engineering to troubleshoot flow and capacity issues on the plant floor
• Use data analysis and floor observation to build recommendations and implement improvements in a unionized manufacturing setting

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering, Industrial & Systems Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related engineering field
• 0–2 years of experience in manufacturing, internships, co-ops, research, or industrial engineering roles
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills; able to communicate technical observations clearly
• Demonstrated interest or experience in production/manufacturing environments
• Ability to learn quickly, adapt to shifting priorities, and work effectively in team-based settings

Preferred / Desired Skills

• Hands-on internship, co-op, or manufacturing engineering experience
• Exposure to lean manufacturing and structured problem-solving (DMAIC, KT, value stream mapping, kaizen)
• Experience with time studies, work measurement, and standard work development
• Familiarity with data analysis and visualization tools (Excel, Minitab, Power BI, SQL)
• Exposure to simulation, capacity modeling, or layout tools (AutoCAD, FlexSim)
• Experience with ERP/MES systems and shop-floor data collection
• Comfortable working with hourly production employees in a union environment

Compensation & Benefits

• Salary range (full-time): $68,958 - $94,817 per year
