Overview

Confidential Client is seeking compassionate, people-oriented part-time Independent Living Skills Companions (SLS) to support adults with developmental disabilities in San Fernando, CA. This entry-level role includes comprehensive paid training and meaningful, community-centered work. Schedules are flexible with 4-, 6- and 8-hour shifts; some overnight shifts are available.

What You’ll Do

• Support clients with daily routines: nutrition, self-care, money management, social and recreational activities.
• Teach and reinforce independent living skills and adaptive behaviors.
• Facilitate community connections and support relationship-building.
• Drive clients (in your vehicle) or use public transportation for community activities.
• Provide emotional support and respond appropriately in emergencies.
• Make each day engaging — you’ll help clients learn, participate, and have fun.

Who We're Looking For

• Positive, patient, and reliable individuals who enjoy working with adults and seniors.
• Students or graduates in Psychology, Occupational Therapy, Human Development, or related fields.
• Current/past caregivers, Direct Support Professionals (DSPs), personal care assistants, CNAs, paraprofessionals, or respite workers.
• Candidates who can commit to health & safety standards and maintain strong professional ethics.

Requirements

• Minimum: High school diploma or equivalent. (Posting also references candidates with Bachelor’s or AA degrees — this role is open to a range of entry-level education backgrounds.)
• Proven or demonstrated experience supporting individuals with disabilities preferred.
• Valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle, and proof of auto insurance required.
• Willingness to use public transportation when needed.
• Ability to lift up to 20 lbs and provide physical assistance when necessary.
• CPR / First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
• Strong communication, organizational skills, and physical stamina.

Compensation & Schedule

• Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour (typical range).
• Overnight pay may vary by shift type; some sleep/overnight shifts listed at $19.00/hour.
• Job type: Part-time.
• Typical shifts: 4-hour, 6-hour, and 8-hour shifts.
• Mileage reimbursement available for work-related driving.
