What You’ll Do
Confidential Client is hiring an Entry-level Income Tax Accountant to support corporate income tax accounting and compliance across multiple legal entities. This role provides hands-on exposure to GAAP tax provision work, federal and state return support, fixed asset tax reporting, indirect tax compliance, and related special projects. This is a great opportunity to build technical tax skills under senior tax leadership in a corporate accounting environment (hybrid or on-site depending on business needs).
- Assist with quarterly and annual income tax provision workpapers prepared in accordance with GAAP
- Analyze general ledger data and calculate book-to-tax differences
- Maintain schedules for depreciation, inventory, compensation-related items, and other tax adjustments
- Prepare income tax journal entries and account reconciliations
- Organize financial data and tax adjustments for federal and state income tax returns
- Support state apportionment calculations and estimated tax payments
- Enter and reconcile data in tax compliance software to provision amounts
- Reconcile fixed asset data and maintain tax depreciation schedules with Tax Manager
- Assist with indirect tax filings (sales & use, property tax, business licenses) and other state/local filings
- Conduct basic federal and state tax research and summarize findings
- Participate in special projects and process-improvement initiatives
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required; Master of Taxation preferred
- CPA preferred (or actively pursuing)
- Internship or up to two years of accounting/tax experience preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
- Experience with SAP preferred
- Experience with income tax compliance software preferred
- Strong organizational, analytical, and time-management skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams
Compensation & Employment Type
- Contract (with potential full-time opportunity) — employment type: CONTRACTOR, FULL_TIME
- Estimated pay (as listed by the client): $59,800 per year (estimated) — final compensation will depend on experience and qualifications
