What You’ll Do

Provide special education instruction and support to scholars in line with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). You will design, modify, and deliver lessons, collaborate with general education staff and families, and participate in ARD/IEP meetings to ensure each scholar’s academic, social, and emotional growth.

• Collaborate with scholars, parents, and staff to develop and implement IEPs via the ARD Committee process
• Deliver instructional, therapeutic, and skill-development programs tailored to scholar needs
• Modify general education curriculum and support scholars in inclusive classroom settings
• Use formal and informal assessments to measure progress and plan instruction
• Employ a variety of instructional techniques and technology to meet diverse learning needs
• Manage scholar behavior and follow IEP-directed behavior supports (including crisis intervention as specified)
• Supervise and assign work to teacher aides and volunteers
• Maintain required records, participate in staff development, and attend faculty/ARD meetings
• Support extracurricular activities as assigned and act as a positive role model for scholars

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
• Valid Texas Special Education teaching certificate with required special education endorsements for assignments
• At least one year of student teaching or an approved internship
• Knowledge of the ARD/IEP process, special education assessments, and curriculum modification
• Ability to perform physical duties listed in the role (lifting/carrying up to 45 lbs., prolonged standing/sitting, etc.)
• Ability to maintain emotional control under stress and manage frequent interruptions

• Strong knowledge of special education needs and individualized instruction
• Practical experience with IEP development and implementation
• Behavior management and crisis intervention per IEP guidelines
• Ability to assess scholar learning styles and apply assessment results to instruction
• Use of instructional technology and standard classroom equipment
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to engage parents and staff

• Estimated compensation (as listed): $71,538 per year — estimated
