The Entry Level Immigration Paralegal at Confidential Client supports immigration attorneys by managing client intake, preparing legal documents, conducting research, and providing administrative assistance. Overview
Confidential Client is seeking an entry-level Immigration Paralegal to join their legal team in SoMa, CA. This bilingual (English/Spanish) role supports removal defense, affirmative family-based immigration work, naturalization, DACA renewals, work authorization and related immigration filings. The position combines substantive paralegal casework with essential administrative and client-intake responsibilities.
What You’ll Do
- Support immigration attorneys with document preparation for immigration court filings, USCIS applications, asylum, family petitions, naturalization, TPS, green card renewals, employment authorizations, adjustments of status and DACA renewals.
- Conduct client intakes and interview potential clients for consultations; maintain client confidentiality.
- Organize, analyze and prepare exhibits, declarations, forms and supporting evidence.
- Enter and maintain accurate client and case information in the case management system; update case notes and follow-ups.
- Provide in-person language interpretation at interviews and appointments; translate documents between English and Spanish.
- Conduct basic legal research and prepare drafts for attorney review.
- Manage calendars: schedule client appointments, track court dates, send reminders and update hearing information.
- Support and staff community legal clinics and outreach events (occasional Saturday work possible).
- Assist with e-filing and filing documents with courts and regulatory agencies; ensure scanned pleadings are saved in client files.
- Provide general administrative support for the legal team (phone triage, mail processing, meeting notes, travel scheduling).
- Participate in regular peer review, legal training, and collaborative partner meetings.
- Other duties as assigned.
Legal Admin Duties (examples)
- Manage attorney calendars and organize meetings, hearings, and outreach events.
- Triage client calls and correspondence; conduct initial client screening.
- Maintain reporting spreadsheets and data required for funding and organizational reporting.
- Create sign-in sheets and manage RSVP lists for legal clinics.
- Take meeting notes for the legal team and prepare summaries.
Qualifications
- Meets California Business & Professions Code Section 6450(c) paralegal requirements (see options below) OR equivalent combination of education and supervised law-related experience:
- Certificate from an ABA-approved paralegal program; or
- Certificate/degree from an accredited postsecondary institution with at least 24 semester units in law-related courses; or
- Baccalaureate degree plus at least one year of supervised law-related experience and a supervising attorney declaration; or
- High school diploma or GED plus three years of supervised law-related experience and a supervising attorney declaration (per statute timelines).
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent formal/informal education preferred.
- Fluent in English and Spanish — excellent verbal and written communication in both languages.
- Strong organization, attention to detail, and client-service orientation.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team; flexible and able to prioritize shifting tasks.

- Comfortable with basic legal research, case management software, and e-filing portals.
Compensation & Benefits
- Hourly pay: $24.04 - $27.40 per hour.
