Responsibilities

  • Design HVAC systems for nuclear and industrial projects, including chilled water, heating, and control-room systems
  • Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve HVAC engineering issues across safety and non-safety systems
  • Develop integrated HVAC layouts for commercial/industrial ventilation, laboratory HVAC, and control-room environments
  • Perform calculations and produce detailed system designs and specifications
  • Coordinate with engineers, project managers, clients, and suppliers to deliver complete, timely designs
  • Support peer learning and knowledge sharing through formal communities of practice and engineering processes

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (required)
  • Familiarity with heat transfer and thermodynamics as applied to HVAC component design
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • We do not sponsor employees for work authorization in the U.S. for this position.

Valued (but not required) qualifications:

  • Degree from an ABET-accredited engineering program
  • Related internship or co-op engineering experience
  • Completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam or Engineer-in-Training designation
  • 1–3 years’ experience or familiarity with HVAC system design
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD and load calculation tools (TRACE 700, 3D load software)

Technology & Innovation

  • Use of data, automation, AI, and other digital tools may be part of project work to support engineering analysis, design, and workflow improvements
  • Candidates who can learn and apply relevant digital tools while exercising professional judgment are preferred
