Confidential Client is hiring an entry-level Human Resources Assistant (contract, full-time) to provide day-to-day administrative support across HR operations. This role is ideal for an organized, detail-oriented candidate who is comfortable with data entry, confidential recordkeeping, and coordinating onboarding and recruitment activities.

- Location: Canaan, CT
- Pay: $20.00 – $23.00 per hour (range shown; actual pay depends on experience and related factors)
What You’ll Do
- Provide day-to-day administrative support to the HR team: process paperwork, prepare correspondence, and respond to routine inquiries.
- Maintain accurate electronic and paper personnel files and employment documentation to meet federal, state, and accreditation requirements.
- Perform heavy data entry and maintain HRIS records, trackers, and reports.
- Assist with employee file audits and track licenses, certifications, trainings, and compliance documentation.
- Support onboarding and offboarding (pre-employment checks, I-9 processing, orientation scheduling, system updates).
- Support recruitment activities: post openings, track applicants, schedule interviews, communicate with candidates, and assist with offer documentation.
- Respond to routine employee and manager questions by providing approved information or routing to HR team members.
- Complete employment verification requests and assist with unemployment documentation as needed.
- Support routine benefits, leave, payroll, and employee-relations administration under HR direction.
- Assist with HR reports, internal communications, recognition activities, meetings, and other HR projects.
- Work collaboratively with Payroll and other departments to resolve data or system discrepancies.
- Maintain strict confidentiality and handle sensitive information with professionalism.
- Follow Confidential Client policies, procedures, and required trainings.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, or related field is preferred.
- Prior administrative, customer service, office, or HR internship experience preferred but not required.
- Strong experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); familiarity with HRIS, applicant tracking, payroll, or LMS is a plus.
- Excellent attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and a customer-service orientation.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, follow processes, meet deadlines, and escalate issues appropriately.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
- Awareness and sensitivity to addiction, socioeconomic differences, and cultural considerations.
Compensation
- Base pay: $20.00 — $23.00 per hour. Actual pay is determined based on skills, education, experience, credentials, and other job-related factors.
