What You’ll Do
Confidential Client is seeking an experienced HSE Manager to lead health, safety and environmental programs on construction projects. In this hands-on role you will be the primary safety resource on site, ensuring safe work practices, regulatory compliance, and effective incident response.
- Conduct regular safety walks and site inspections across the project and adjacent property.
- Deliver site-specific safety orientations and toolbox talks.
- Develop, maintain, and implement the Project Safety Management Plan and Project Environmental Management Plan.
- Enforce company safety policies and the project-level Safety Management and Illness Prevention Systems.
- Manage emergencies, incidents, and worker’s compensation case workflow — including reporting, investigations, corrective actions, and recordkeeping.
- Review, file, and maintain project safety documentation and permits.
- Coach and influence craft and supervision to achieve measurable safety outcomes.
- Support training initiatives and maintain safety-related logs and metrics.
Minimum Job Requirements
- Minimum: high school diploma or equivalent; bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Experience: at least 1 year of full-time project safety or HSE experience; progression through project-level roles (Step I → II → Sr.) is valuable.
- Certifications: STSC, CHST, ASP, CSP are preferred but not required.
- Special qualifications: MSHA BlueCard (MSHA Trainer) preferred; bilingual candidates are strongly preferred.
- Skills: strong written and verbal communication, proficiency with Microsoft Office, and comfort using safety software and mobile apps.
- Integrity and consistent adherence to reporting requirements and company policy.
Physical Requirements
- Required to wear personal protective equipment (steel-toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, hardhat, high-vis vest, etc.).
- May reach above shoulder height and below waist frequently; may stoop, kneel, and bend occasionally.
- May climb stairs or ladders occasionally.
- Regular interaction with workers, supervisors, and subcontractors during a shift.
- Ability to sit, stand, or walk short distances for long periods; lift, push, or pull occasionally.
- Use telephone, computer, email and other electronic devices to communicate.
Safety Level
Safety-Sensitive — role includes tasks that can affect the safety and health of the employee or others (operation of equipment, handling hazardous materials, working at heights, etc.).
