Overview & Role Summary
Confidential Client is seeking a Project HSE Manager (Steps I / II / Sr.) for heavy industrial construction work in Iva, SC. You will be a core member of the project team responsible for implementing and facilitating Health, Safety & Environmental (HS&E) programs on site. This role is safety-sensitive and requires frequent field presence, strong communication, and proactive incident prevention.
What You’ll Do
- Conduct frequent safety walks and site inspections across the project and adjacent property.
- Deliver site-specific safety orientations and trainings for craft and supervisors.
- Create, update and maintain the Project Environmental Management Plan.
- Create, update and maintain the Project Safety Management Plan.
- Implement and facilitate the Safety Management & Illness Prevention Systems on the project.
- Manage emergencies, incidents, and workers’ compensation processes (investigation, reporting, and follow-up).
- Review, file, and maintain project HS&E documentation and records.
- Support continuous improvement of on-site safety systems and culture.
Who We’re Looking For
- Experience: Minimum of one year of full-time project safety experience (Step I), progressing to greater responsibility for Step II and Senior roles.
- Education: High school diploma required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Certifications (preferred, not required): STSC, CHST, ASP, CSP.
- Skills:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and common field apps/software.
- Ability to use various digital tools to track safety data and documentation.
- Bilingual candidates are a plus.
- Integrity: High ethical standards for incident reporting and compliance with policies and regulations.
Physical & Work Environment Requirements
- Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including steel-toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, hardhat, vest, etc.
- Frequent reaching above shoulder height and below the waist; occasional stooping, kneeling, bending.
- May climb stairs, ladders, or access elevated work areas.
- Frequent interaction with crews, supervisors, contractors, and stakeholders.
- May sit, stand, or walk short distances for extended periods during a shift.
- Will occasionally lift, push, or pull objects.
- This is a Safety-Sensitive position (tasks could affect the safety of the employee or others).
Compensation & Employment Type
- Estimated pay: $78,241 per year (estimated).
- Employment type: Full-time, permanent (on-site in Iva, SC).
- Location: Iva, South Carolina — candidates must be able to work on-site and travel within the project area as required.
