What You’ll Do

This entry-level HSE Environmental Permitting Specialist will support environmental permitting and compliance activities for pipeline and facilities projects in the Southwest Division. You’ll work with internal project teams, external consultants, and regulatory agencies to help secure permits and maintain compliance for projects primarily in Texas and New Mexico.

  • Support environmental permitting for projects on federal, state, and private lands
  • Assist with NEPA compliance and coordinate requirements for BLM and New Mexico State Land Office (SLO)
  • Coordinate with consultants to compile environmental and permitting documents
  • Support compliance with USACE, USFWS, BLM, and SLO requirements
  • Track permit status, environmental deliverables, and agency requests
  • Maintain organized project files, records, and documentation
  • Assist with Oracle invoicing and purchase order (PO) tracking
  • Communicate with project teams to support routing guidance and schedules

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate consultant deliverables and support assembly of permitting packages
  • Monitor regulatory timelines and follow up with agencies as needed
  • Help establish productive relationships with agency contacts
  • Maintain accurate records of permits, approvals, and outstanding items
  • Support invoice and PO processing in Oracle and assist with expense tracking
  • Assist senior environmental staff with ad-hoc permitting and compliance tasks

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or related field
  • Preferred 2+ years of relevant experience (entry-level candidates with applicable internships or project experience are encouraged)
  • Basic knowledge of NEPA, Clean Water Act (CWA), and Endangered Species Act (ESA)
  • Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel as required
  • Successful completion of background check and pre-employment drug & alcohol testing
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. for the duration of employment (this position is not eligible for employment-based visa sponsorship)

Compensation & Location

  • Employment type: Full-time
  • Estimated base pay: $67,738 per year (estimated)
  • Primary location for this posting: Houston, TX — travel within the region may be required
