Position overview
Confidential Client is hiring an HR/Payroll Coordinator (hybrid) based in Carlsbad, CA. This hands-on HR role supports payroll processing, HRIS administration, onboarding, benefits administration, compliance, and day-to-day HR operations. You will work closely with People and Operations leaders to ensure accurate payroll, clean employee records, timely new-hire experiences, and positive team-member support across the organization.
What You’ll Do
- Support bi-weekly payroll processing and serve as a payroll backup to ensure accurate, timely pay runs.
- Administer HRIS updates, maintain personnel records, and validate data for payroll and reporting.
- Provide day-to-day HR support to team members and managers on pay statements, PTO/time-off requests, leaves, and benefits questions.
- Coordinate onboarding activities and I-9 verification to create a smooth new-hire experience.
- Assist with benefits enrollment, coverage changes, terminations, and partner with vendors for leave administration (e.g., FMLA).
- Support workers’ compensation coordination, unemployment and disability claims processes with third-party providers.
- Perform periodic audits of HR records, onboarding paperwork, and training acknowledgements to maintain compliance.
- Help coordinate recruiting logistics for entry-level roles and RSC candidate interviews.
- Contribute to HR projects and process-improvement initiatives in partnership with HR and Operations teams.
- Assist with employee separation checklists and ensure return of company property and final documentation.
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience in Human Resources, payroll support, HR operations, or related functions.
- Hands-on experience with HRIS platforms and familiarity with payroll processing workflows.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and follow-through on multiple concurrent tasks.
- Solid interpersonal and written communication skills; comfortable supporting employees and managers at all levels.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality when handling sensitive employee information.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint).
- Comfortable working in a hybrid, fast-paced environment and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Nice to have
- Experience with Dayforce HRIS (preferred).
- Bilingual Spanish/English (a plus).
- Restaurant, hospitality, or multi-location operations HR experience.
Compensation & schedule
- Employment type: Hourly / Non-exempt (hybrid)
- Salary range: $45,000 - $65,000 per year (DOE)
