Position Overview

Confidential Client is hiring a Human Resources Generalist (full-time, in-person) to support HR operations in Toms River, NJ. This role focuses on onboarding/offboarding, leave and worker’s compensation administration, HRIS tasks in ADP WorkforceNow, and oversight of the internship program.


Compensation & Location

  • Hourly rate: $23.50 - $25.50
  • Employment type: Full-time, in-person
  • Work location: Office — 1500 Route 88, Brick, NJ (serving Toms River area)

What You’ll Do (Key Responsibilities)

  • Ensure timely completion of orientation checklists and introductory reviews by monitoring ADP WorkforceNow dashboards and following up with managers.
  • Manage pre-employment clearance (background checks, drug screens, Mantoux, fingerprinting, medical requirements).
  • Administer employee leaves (FMLA / NJFLA, personal leaves, workers’ compensation); maintain accurate records and coordinate return-to-work processes.
  • Coordinate timecard entries and benefit-time accounting with managers and payroll.
  • Refer employees to occupational health for work-related injuries and file workers’ compensation claims with the carrier.
  • Maintain OSHA Form 300 log and support annual BLS reporting.
  • Process employee status changes bi-weekly, enter updates into ADP, and notify finance and relevant teams.
  • Generate separation letters with required unemployment claim notices and coordinate exit interview process; provide quarterly summaries to HR leadership.
  • Ensure employees meet regulatory requirements for transfers/promotions (fingerprinting, medical, CARI, etc.).
  • Oversee the internship program: screen applicants, coordinate paperwork, and schedule intern start dates and orientation.
  • Support HR audits (financial, regulatory, other) by preparing personnel files and running ADP reports.
  • Maintain secure employee records and ensure compliance with federal/state employment laws and retention requirements.
  • Perform other HR duties as assigned.

Required Competencies

  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite and ADP WorkforceNow (or similar HRIS).
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Customer-service orientation and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.

Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management or related field preferred.
  • Certifications: PHR or SHRM-CP desirable.
  • Experience: 1–2 years minimum HR experience; experience in the non-profit sector is a plus.
