Confidential Client is hiring an entry-level Histotechnologist Trainee for second shift in Omaha, NE. This is a hands-on training role where you'll learn histology techniques to prepare biological tissue for diagnostic analysis. The position supports timely, high-quality pathology information for patient care and research.
What You’ll Do
- Learn and perform histology preparation tasks under supervision, including fixation, processing, embedding, microtomy, and staining.
- Prepare patient or research tissue specimens according to lab procedures and quality standards.
- Maintain accurate specimen labeling, logs, and documentation.
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment; follow safety and infection-control protocols.
- Participate in quality-assurance and continuous-improvement activities.
- Communicate effectively with lab staff, pathologists, and clinical teams to support diagnostic workflows.
Shift & Schedule
- Second Shift: Full time — typical hours 12:30 PM to 9:00 PM.
- This is an entry-level position with on-the-job training. Some flexibility for overtime or occasional schedule changes may be required.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Education/training equivalent to 60 semester hours from an accredited institution that includes either:
- 24 semester hours of medical laboratory technology courses; or
- 24 semester hours of science courses, including:
- at least 6 semester hours of chemistry,
- at least 6 semester hours of biology, and
- 12 semester hours total of chemistry, biology, or medical laboratory technology (any combination).
Preferred Qualifications
- Recent laboratory experience, ideally in a histology laboratory.
- Bachelor of Science or completion of a recognized histology technique training program.
- Strong attention to detail, manual dexterity, and the ability to follow standardized protocols.
