What You’ll Do
Confidential Client’s Medicaid Finance & Policy practice is hiring a Healthcare Data Analyst to support Medicaid-related provider payment transformation, rate setting, and program funding engagements. You will work with multidisciplinary teams to analyze claims, cost, and public data sources and help transform those analyses into clear deliverables for state agencies and healthcare organizations.
- Analyze large healthcare datasets (claims, service trends, provider cost data).
- Design, develop, and validate data models and analytic pipelines.
- Review and summarize model outputs for technical and non-technical audiences.
- Perform Medicaid policy research and apply findings to analytic work.
- Draft technical documentation, client reports, and PowerPoint presentations.
- Participate in quality control and review the work of peers to ensure accuracy.
- Troubleshoot code and data issues; identify root causes and implement fixes.
Qualifications
Minimum requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher.
- At least 2 years of experience analyzing large datasets.
- Proficiency with database management and statistical programming tools (SAS, SQL, or Python).
- Ability to write or learn SAS code without point-and-click interfaces is required.
- Experience with Python and Databricks is preferred.
- Advanced Excel skills for data analysis (SUMIFS, INDEX/MATCH, nested IFs, macros/VBA).
- Experience analyzing Medicaid claims or other healthcare claims datasets is required.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot code independently.
- Good written and verbal communication skills for conveying technical concepts.
- Ability to conduct and summarize policy and data research carefully and clearly.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future.
Preferred / helpful experience:
- Consulting experience with state Medicaid agencies or health & human services organizations.
- Familiarity with public data sources (e.g., BLS) and using them in healthcare analyses.
- Prior experience with rate setting, reimbursement methodology design, or program funding strategies.
Compensation & Benefits
Compensation (salary range):
- For candidates residing in Washington (including Seattle): $68,080 - $109,020 per year.
- For candidates in other locations: $59,200 - $94,800 per year.
