Role Overview
Careertakes is assisting a confidential client in hiring a Healthcare Data Analyst on a contract basis. This role partners with business and clinical leadership to turn large healthcare datasets into actionable insights that drive financial and operational decisions. The position requires strong technical skills in SQL and Python, advanced Excel, and experience building executive-level dashboards using Tableau or Power BI.
What You’ll Do
- Serve as a strategic analytics partner to leadership, offering decision support across financial, operational, and clinical domains
- Analyze cost, utilization, and operational data to identify trends and opportunities
- Build, maintain, and automate dashboards and executive reports using Tableau and/or Power BI
- Write advanced SQL queries and transform datasets for analysis and reporting
- Develop reproducible data workflows and reporting processes using Python and ETL best practices
- Perform statistical, predictive, and trend analyses to support forecasting and program evaluation
- Translate complex analyses into clear, actionable recommendations and executive presentations
- Lead strategic analytics initiatives and collaborate in cross-functional workgroups
- Support data governance, ensure data quality and integrity, and document reporting specifications
- Present findings to senior stakeholders and assist with change management during rollouts
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- 5+ years of healthcare industry analytics or decision support experience
- Advanced SQL skills and strong experience querying large relational databases
- Proficiency in Python for data processing, analysis, and automation
- Advanced Excel skills including pivoting, complex formulas, and modeling
- Experience building dashboards and visualizations in Tableau and/or Power BI
- Background in financial analysis, accounting, or healthcare decision support
- Experience with statistical analysis, data modeling, and data warehousing concepts
- Strong project management skills and experience leading analytics deliverables
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with stakeholder-facing experience
- Ability to present complex findings and translate them into business recommendations
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience supporting healthcare finance, utilization management, or population health analytics
- Familiarity with healthcare coding and claims datasets
- Experience with ETL tools, data pipelines, or cloud data platforms
- Track record of delivering executive-level reporting and influencing cross-functional decisions
Logistics & Compensation
- Employment type: Contractor
- Duration: 13 month contract
- Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week
- Location: Hybrid — onsite 1 day per week in Hyattsville, MD (Wednesday); remote remainder of week
- Candidate must reside in MD, DC, or VA
- Compensation: $50.00 to $54.00 per hour
