What You’ll Do

This entry-level Health Physicist will be an integral member of the Radiation Health team supporting naval nuclear propulsion and related research. Core responsibilities include:

  • Manage the area monitoring dosimetry program and qualify in advanced external dosimetry
  • Conduct environmental dosimetry monitoring and maintain accurate dose records
  • Support emergency response activities related to radiation safety
  • Prepare technical reports, summaries, and documentation for internal and regulatory use
  • Collaborate with engineers, technicians, and operations teams to ensure safe reactor and training operations
  • Learn and expand expertise across health physics disciplines and radiation safety programs

What We’re Looking For

Minimum qualifications and skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related technical, engineering, or science field (or Master’s degree in a related field)
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational ability, and clear written and verbal communication
  • Ability to qualify as a Radiation Worker and support radiation monitoring programs
  • Familiarity with radiation dose records and tracking systems (e.g., ARCMIS) is preferred
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and time-management skills
  • Willingness to learn program procedures and applicable manuals related to naval nuclear propulsion

Preferred Qualifications

  • GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Knowledge of Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program (NNPP) procedures and manuals
  • Previous coursework or experience in health physics, radiation protection, or dosimetry
  • Demonstrated ability to work in cross-functional teams and follow formal safety procedures

Compensation & Benefits

  • Pay range: $70,900 - $108,500 per year (actual pay based on experience, qualifications, and market considerations)

Location & Eligibility

  • Location: West Mifflin, PA (on-site work with opportunities to engage across facilities)
