Role Overview

Confidential Client (via Careertakes) is seeking a GTM Data Analyst to own go-to-market analytics for revenue — pipeline and conversion reporting, coverage & capacity modeling, commission calculations, and analysis that informs where to invest headcount and budget. This is a hands-on role: you will frame questions, write SQL, build models, put work into source control, and present results directly to revenue leadership.

What You’ll Do

  • Build the analysis that drives weekly pipeline reviews, forecast reviews, monthly business reviews, and executive sales reporting.
  • Own stage-to-stage conversion reporting: conversion rates, cycle times, and win rates by channel, team, segment, and product.
  • Build assumption-driven models for strategic initiatives (new segments, pricing changes, channel tests) with parameterized assumptions.
  • Run and extend coverage and capacity models: translate revenue targets into pipeline and headcount, surface gaps early for leadership action.
  • Contribute to pipeline-driven bottoms-up forecasting and reconcile it with sales commitments and top-down models.
  • Investigate cohort- and segment-level anomalies (e.g., dips in conversion or shifts in cycle time) and bring findings to leadership proactively.
  • Build and maintain the GTM layer of the transformation project (dbt or equivalent): funnel and conversion models, pipeline history, rep and territory attribution.
  • Ship work through source control — branch, pull request, review, tests, documentation — and participate in code reviews.
  • Reconcile Salesforce, subscription billing, and product usage data and explain discrepancies clearly.
  • Help define GTM metrics in the semantic layer so self-service queries return governed numbers.
  • Use AI tools (e.g., Claude) for drafting queries and scaffolding models — QA AI output thoroughly and explain results, not just repeat them.

What We're Looking For

  • Demonstrated professional experience doing analytical work where you defined the problem, not only executed a spec.
  • Strong SQL skills: comfortable with CTEs, joins, and window functions; able to debug numbers when results look off.
  • Working knowledge of source control (branches, commits, pull requests).
  • Curiosity about data lineage and where numbers originate; ability to reason about data landing times and transformations.
  • Strong spreadsheet modeling skills — create multi-tab models executives can follow and extend.
  • A commitment to accuracy and the ability to state confidently when a number is wrong, even under deadline pressure.
  • Familiarity with funnel and SaaS metrics: conversion rate, pipeline coverage, cycle time, retention, CAC, payback (or ability to learn quickly).

Nice to Haves

  • dbt experience (project structure, tests, macros) or equivalent tested, version-controlled transformation pipelines.
  • Experience with Trino/Athena or Snowflake.
  • Python for analysis tasks SQL can't handle.
  • Experience using Salesforce as a data source, and understanding common data pitfalls.
  • Subscription billing experience (Zuora or similar), quota setting, territory design, or sales compensation modeling.
  • Experience with semantic/metrics layers (MetricFlow, Cube, etc.).
  • BI development experience in Preset/Superset, Looker, Tableau, or comparable tools.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Anticipated base salary range: $90,000–$110,000 annually (placement in range depends on experience, location, and internal equity).
  • Eligible for bonus opportunities and a comprehensive benefits package.
  • Typical benefits (may vary by client): unlimited paid time off, medical/dental/vision, HSA with employer match (where applicable), commuter benefits, life & disability insurance, 401(k) with match, equity opportunities, paid parental leave, and wellness programs.

Location & Work Arrangement

  • Location: Virginia (VA). Specific work arrangement (remote, hybrid, or on-site) will be set by the Confidential Client and may vary by role.
