Role Overview
Confidential Client is seeking Grid Operations Engineers at multiple levels (Entry, Staff, Senior, Principal) to support Advanced Distribution Management System (ADMS) initiatives, Advanced Outage Management, Wildfire Mitigation applications, DERMS, FLISR, and VVO. You will work with distribution control centers and cross-functional groups (SCADA, Grid Analysts, engineering, operations) to make operational data accessible, support control center staff, and help deliver ADMS functionality that meets business needs.
What You’ll Do
- Use technical standards, principles, theories, concepts, and techniques to perform assignments appropriate to the selected level.
- Support development of technical documentation: designs, testing, calculations, reports, standards, and procedures.
- Provide technical support for operations, maintenance, testing/diagnostics, and regulatory activities.
- Provide field engineering oversight for commissioning, testing, and inspections (as required).
- Coordinate and lead project segments (research, design, equipment selection, procurement support, installation, commissioning) under direction for more senior levels.
- Support bid/evaluation processes with analysis and calculations supporting bid documents.
- Exchange information effectively across the business and with external vendors/customers.
- Mentor less-experienced engineers, interns, and technicians as applicable.
- Assist with budgeting, estimating, forecasting, accounting, and work order management in support of engineering projects.
Minimum Qualifications & Requirements
All candidates must demonstrate the technical competencies appropriate to the level for which they are considered.
Entry Engineer
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited curriculum (electrical engineering preferred).
- 0+ years relevant engineering experience.
- EIT/FE preferred.
- Salary range: $70,000 – $88,666
Staff Engineer
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited curriculum (electrical engineering preferred).
- 2+ years relevant engineering experience.
- Demonstrated broad knowledge and proficiency in specialty area.
- EIT/FE strongly preferred.
- Salary range: $81,800 – $106,266
Senior Engineer
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited curriculum (electrical engineering preferred).
- 5+ years relevant engineering experience with EIT/FE required; or 7+ years without EIT/FE.
- Preferred PE registration may be required depending on business need.
- Salary range: $97,000 – $129,266
Principal Engineer
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited curriculum (electrical engineering preferred).
- 9+ years relevant engineering experience with PE registration required; or 15+ years without PE.
- Salary range: $112,000 – $156,600
Preferred Experience
- ADMS implementation and operations experience
- Control center operations knowledge
- Substation and distribution engineering experience
- Experience coordinating with SCADA and Grid Analysts
- FLISR, VVO, DERMS, or Advanced Outage Management familiarity
Compensation & Benefits
- Anticipated base pay range for roles covered by this posting: $70,000 — $156,600 per year (varies by level and experience).
