What You’ll Do

This entry-level Graduate Nurse role reports to unit nursing leadership and works under the supervision of experienced Registered Nurses (RNs). As a Graduate Nurse you will learn and apply clinical skills while delivering safe, compassionate care to a diverse inpatient population. Key responsibilities include:

  • Perform nursing assessments, documentation and basic procedures under supervision
  • Assist with examinations, treatments and medication administration following protocols
  • Provide patient and family education and support discharge planning in collaboration with the care team
  • Communicate effectively with physicians and interprofessional team members to coordinate care
  • Participate in on-the-job coaching, competency checks and progressive skill development
  • Follow facility policies, patient-safety standards and regulatory requirements
  • Contribute to unit goals for quality, patient satisfaction and teamwork

Who We’re Looking For

Candidates we typically hire into this cohort are new nursing graduates ready to begin clinical practice and grow quickly with structured mentorship.

  • Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred; Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) considered
  • Experience: New graduate (0 years) with completed clinical rotations in a hospital setting
  • Licensure: Eligible for a Graduate Nurse (GN) temporary/initial state license in Texas
  • Certifications: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association (or instructor)
  • Work authorization: Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Required Licenses & Certifications

  • GN — Graduate Nurse Temporary / State Licensure (Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation) — or eligible to obtain
  • BLS — Basic Life Support (AHA) or BLS Instructor (AHA)

Skills & Abilities

  • Demonstrates developing clinical competence through skills assessments and performance reviews
  • Strong oral and written English communication skills as required for safe patient care
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time and respond calmly in clinical situations
  • Progressing critical thinking and clinical judgment appropriate for a novice nurse
  • Basic computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Outlook) for documentation and communication
  • Team-oriented attitude and willingness to seek feedback and coaching
