Position Overview

This Graduate Nurse (GN) role is an entry-level clinical position based in The Woodlands, TX. The GN works under the supervision of experienced Registered Nurses (RNs) and managers to deliver safe, compassionate nursing care while progressing clinical skills through coaching and supervised practice. This position follows Benner’s novice stage model and supports patients across a diverse clinical population.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide professional nursing care under RN supervision, including assessments, assisting with exams/treatments, medication administration, procedures, and patient education.
  • Collaborate with physicians and the interprofessional health care team to support efficient, high-quality care and positive patient outcomes.
  • Communicate effectively to maintain continuity of care through discharge planning and coordination of services.
  • Demonstrate progressive development of clinical judgment, critical thinking, time management, and prioritization.
  • Participate in competency assessments, performance evaluations, and continuing education to expand clinical skills.
  • Uphold patient- and family-centered care standards and contribute to unit-based quality, safety, and satisfaction goals.

Qualifications

  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited school of Nursing preferred; Associates degree may be considered.
  • Experience:
    • Zero years required — completion of nursing degree with clinical rotations in a hospital setting expected.
  • Licenses & Certifications (required prior to or upon hire as specified by the client):
    • Graduate Nurse Temporary State Licensure (Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation) — GN temporary licensure.
    • BLS — Basic Life Support (AHA) or Instructor (AHA).
  • Skills & Abilities:
    • Proficiency in English (speaking, reading, writing) sufficient for patient and safety-critical communication.
    • Ability to communicate empathetically with patients, families, physicians, and team members.
    • Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook and basic hospital IT systems.
    • Demonstrated progression toward assessment, organizational, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
    • Willingness to learn, accept feedback, and apply coaching toward independent practice.

Working Conditions & Additional Info

  • FLSA Status: Non-exempt.
  • Employment Type: Full time.
  • Work Shift: 4 - Evergreen - All Shifts.
  • Work attire: Scrubs required.
  • On-call: May not be routinely required; employees may be required to be on-call during emergencies (e.g., disasters, severe weather).
  • Travel: Typically no travel required within or outside the Houston metro area.
  • This campus is a full-service acute-care facility with multiple specialty services and outpatient options (operating rooms, cancer care, heart & vascular, orthopedics, imaging, and more).

Compensation (Estimated)

  • Estimated: $54,532 per year (estimate shown on source posting). This is an estimate only; final compensation will be determined by the Confidential Client and may vary by unit and experience.
