What You’ll Do
This is an entry-level Graduate Nurse (GN) role based at the confidential client campus in Tamina, TX. The GN works under the supervision of experienced Registered Nurses (RNs) and unit leadership to develop clinical skills and provide safe, high-quality patient care.
- Provide professional nursing care to a diverse patient population under RN supervision.
- Conduct nursing assessments and assist with exams, treatments, and procedures as delegated.
- Administer medications and document care accurately in medical records.
- Deliver patient and family education and act as a patient advocate.
- Collaborate with physicians and the interprofessional health care team to support coordinated, efficient care.
- Progress clinically through ongoing skills assessments, competency evaluations, and feedback from mentors.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from an accredited school of nursing preferred; Associates degree may be considered.
- Completion of nursing program with clinical rotations in a hospital setting.
- Zero years of professional RN experience required — new graduates are encouraged to apply.
- Sufficient proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing English to perform essential job functions.
Licenses & Certifications
- GN – Graduate Nurse Temporary state licensure (Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation) required.
- BLS – Basic Life Support (AHA) or BLS Instructor certification required.
Skills & Abilities
- Demonstrates (or progressing toward) safe clinical skills and competencies as measured by skills checks and performance evaluations.
- Developing assessment, organizational, time-management, critical thinking, and clinical judgment skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication with patients, families, physicians, and team members.
- Ability to work collaboratively within an interprofessional care team.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft products, including Outlook, and comfort using clinical technology.
Essential Functions
The position includes responsibilities across these areas:
- People: Build therapeutic relationships with patients and families; foster teamwork and respond to requests for assistance; accept coaching and feedback.
- Service: Follow patient- and family-centered care practices; participate in discharge planning and patient education under RN supervision.
- Quality & Safety: Adhere to professional nursing standards and regulatory requirements; modify care progressively for more complex patients while prioritizing safety.
- Finance: Manage time and prioritize tasks to reduce incidental overtime and support department targets.
- Growth & Innovation: Identify learning needs, seek continuing education, and adopt new care pathways or service-line changes.
Work Environment & Supplemental Info
- Work attire: Scrubs required.
- On-call and travel requirements may vary by department; staff may be required to support emergency response events as needed.
- This role operates in an acute-care hospital setting.
