What You’ll Do
This is an entry-level Graduate Nurse (GN) role working under the supervision and mentorship of experienced Registered Nurses and clinical leaders. You will provide compassionate, patient-centered nursing care while progressing your clinical skills and judgment.
- Provide professional nursing care and nursing assessments to a diverse patient population
- Assist with exams, treatments, procedures and medication administration under RN supervision
- Document care and maintain accurate medical records
- Deliver patient and family education and evaluate comprehension
- Participate in discharge planning and care coordination
- Collaborate with physicians and the interprofessional care team to support quality outcomes
- Use clinical technology and follow established standards and protocols
- Engage in ongoing learning, competency assessments and apply feedback to improve clinical practice
Compensation & Schedule
- Employment type: Full time
- Estimated compensation: $51,367 per year (estimated)
- FLSA status: Non‑exempt
Qualifications
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from an accredited school preferred; Associate degree in Nursing may be considered
- Experience:
- New graduates welcome — zero years of experience required
- Completion of a nursing program that includes clinical rotations in a hospital setting
- Work authorization:
- Must be authorized to work in the United States
Licenses & Certifications
- GN — Graduate Nurse Temporary (eligible or active) — Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (or eligibility to obtain)
- BLS — Basic Life Support (AHA) or Instructor (AHA)
- Must maintain required state licensure/certifications as condition of employment
Skills & Abilities
- Demonstrates progression in clinical skills and safe performance as measured by competency assessments
- Proficient in spoken and written English as required for patient safety and documentation
- Effective, professional communication with patients, families, physicians and teammates
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time in a fast-paced clinical setting
- Developing critical thinking and clinical judgment consistent with the Nurse Practice Act
- Familiarity with basic Microsoft products including Outlook
Essential Functions & Working Conditions
- Establish therapeutic relationships and collaborate on individualized plans of care
- Contribute to a positive team environment and respond appropriately to requests for assistance
- Follow established quality, safety and regulatory standards for nursing practice
- Manage time to minimize incidental overtime and support departmental financial targets
- Work attire: scrubs required
- On-call and travel requirements: may be required during emergencies; travel within or outside the metropolitan area is generally not required for this role
