Position overview

Confidential Client is recruiting Graduate Nurses (GN) for its Cypress hospital campus Winter 2027 cohort. This is an entry-level, full-time clinical role for newly graduated nurses who will work under the supervision and coaching of experienced Registered Nurses (RNs). The Graduate Nurse will provide patient-centered nursing care, perform assessments, assist with treatments and procedures, provide patient education, document care, and collaborate with the interprofessional team to support safe, high-quality outcomes.


Key responsibilities

  • Provide professional nursing care to a diverse patient population under RN supervision
  • Perform nursing assessments and assist with exams, treatments and procedures
  • Administer medications and document care in the medical record, escalating as appropriate
  • Deliver patient and family education and evaluate comprehension
  • Communicate and collaborate with physicians and the interprofessional team to coordinate care and discharge planning
  • Participate in unit-based quality, safety and service initiatives
  • Demonstrate progressive growth in clinical judgment, time management, prioritization and critical-thinking skills

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited school of Nursing; Associates degree may be considered
  • Recent nursing graduate — zero years of paid RN experience required (clinical rotations in a hospital setting expected)
  • Eligible for Graduate Nurse Temporary state licensure (Texas) or equivalent per local regulations
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) — American Heart Association required

Required licenses & certifications

  • GN — Graduate Nurse Temporary state licensure (Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation) OR applicable temporary/new-grad licensure in-state
  • BLS (AHA) — Basic Life Support (or Instructor)

Skills & abilities

  • Demonstrates foundational nursing skills and competencies; participates in ongoing assessments and evaluations
  • Proficient in spoken and written English sufficient for safe, effective care and documentation
  • Positive, patient-centered communication with patients, families, providers and teammates
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time, with progressive independence under supervision
  • Developing critical thinking and clinical judgment consistent with the Nurse Practice Act
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft products including Outlook

  • Support care planning and discharge processes under RN supervision; advocate for patient needs and ethical concerns

  • Apply nursing standards of care and regulatory requirements; provide progressively complex care under supervision
  • Contribute to unit quality and safety improvement efforts

Finance & Growth

  • Manage time and daily tasks to minimize incidental overtime and support department targets
  • Identify learning needs and pursue continuing education; adopt new care pathways or service line implementations

  • Work shift: 4 - Evergreen - All Shifts
  • Job category: Clinical / Nursing
  • Uniform: Scrubs required; other attire per department policy
  • On-call: Not typically required, but employees may be expected to respond during emergency events (disaster, severe weather) as needed
  • Travel: No regular travel within or outside the metropolitan area expected for this role
