About the Role
Confidential Client is seeking a Guidance, Navigation & Controls (GNC) Engineer I to support the design, analysis, and verification of spacecraft GNC subsystems. This is an entry-level engineering role ideal for early-career engineers, recent graduates, or those with internship/research experience who are passionate about spacecraft control, orbital mechanics, and simulation-driven development. You will work under technical leads and senior engineers to develop algorithms, run performance analyses, and help integrate GNC flight software and hardware-in-the-loop tests.
What You’ll Do
- Assist in design, analysis, and implementation of GNC algorithms (classical control design and Kalman filtering).
- Support analysis of GNC mode transitions and evaluate performance against system requirements.
- Create and run Monte Carlo simulations to quantify performance and margins.
- Develop MATLAB scripts, SIMULINK models, and integrate simulations with tools such as STK.
- Analyze and interpret sensor data (IMU, GPS) for navigation and state estimation tasks.
- Support integration of GNC flight software (FSW) into simulations and HITL setups.
- Document analysis results, produce technical reports, and present findings to the team.
- Estimate workloads and prioritize day-to-day tasks under direction from technical leads.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in aerospace, mechanical, electrical engineering, or a related technical field — or equivalent work experience.
- 0–2 years of relevant engineering experience (including academic projects, internships, or research).
- Foundational knowledge of statics, dynamics, control systems, and orbital mechanics.
- Proficiency in MATLAB and familiarity with SIMULINK, STK, and version control (GIT/SVN).
- Basic understanding of IMU and GPS sensor principles and navigation concepts.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance (U.S. citizenship required).
Preferred Qualifications
- Hands-on experience or coursework with Kalman filtering and classical control design.
- Experience running Monte Carlo simulations and analyzing GNC mode transitions.
- Familiarity with spacecraft subsystems (power, thermal, communications, jitter, structures).
- Experience integrating flight software into simulation or HITL environments.
- Strong analytical skills and comfort interpreting performance requirements.
- Clear technical communication skills and collaborative team mindset.
Compensation & Requirements
- Pay Range: $83,999.00 - $115,498.25 per year (salary range provided per Colorado pay-transparency requirements).
- This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance. U.S. citizenship is required; non-U.S. citizens may not be eligible.
- Actual base compensation will be determined based on experience, skills, education, and market factors.
Benefits & Professional Growth
Confidential Client offers a competitive benefits package and career development opportunities, including medical, dental, and vision plans; retirement savings with employer contributions; paid time off; and professional development pathways to grow in GNC engineering and systems roles.
