What You’ll Do

This is an entry-level Contract-to-Hire opportunity for a GIS Specialist supporting electric distribution projects. You will work both in the office and in the field to maintain and improve GIS data and support engineering deliverables for the Confidential Client.

• Use GIS and CAD software to support electric distribution projects and maintain data for higher‑complexity and priority work.
• Reference as‑builts, work management logs, and other documentation to update GIS to reflect construction completed in the field.
• Identify and document data inconsistencies; coordinate with team members and stakeholders to correct data in client systems.
• Obtain, manipulate, and integrate GIS data at state and municipal levels.
• Participate in meetings and collaborate with teammates, clients, and other stakeholders.
• Complete engineering design tasks and produce deliverables to client standards.
• Support storm response and other field activities as needed.
• Work in an Agile team environment that values collaboration and feedback.

Qualifications

Basic qualifications required for consideration:

• Bachelor’s degree (any discipline) and 0–2 years relevant experience (internships count).
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Willingness and ability to perform both field and office work (outdoor data collection required).
• Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Visio, Outlook).
• Able to follow utility client standards and quality controls.

Preferred / Technical Skills

Preferred experience (one or more):

• GIS: Smallworld, Esri suite (ArcMap, ArcGIS, ArcSDE, ArcGIS Server), QGIS.
• CAD: Bentley MicroStation, Autodesk AutoCAD, Civil 3D (Maya is a plus).
• Experience supporting utility distribution GIS and data maintenance.
• Basic GIS analysis and familiarity with power/distribution data models.

• Compensation: $22.00 per hour.
