How We Collaborate

This position may offer a hybrid work arrangement that blends in-office and remote work depending on business needs. Preference may be given to candidates who live within ~50 miles of an eligible office. Eligible office locations for this role include San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, Los Angeles, Carlsbad, San Diego, and Ventura.


What You’ll Do

  • Support GIS tasks for energy, utility, infrastructure, and environmental projects, including data development, mapping, spatial analysis, field data collection, and web GIS deliverables.
  • Produce high-quality GIS products: custom maps, technical reports, and interactive web maps using ArcGIS Online and related tools.
  • Organize, validate, and maintain geospatial datasets and attribute tables; resolve discrepancies via queries, scripts, or research.
  • Perform spatial analyses (buffers, overlays, distance calculations) following standard methodologies.
  • Design, test, and implement GIS tools and applications, including Esri field tools (Survey123, Field Maps) and Experience Builder.
  • Configure and maintain ArcGIS Online content and assist with ArcGIS Enterprise workflows.
  • Troubleshoot GIS software, GPS devices, and digital field tools; provide training and user support.
  • Integrate and manage GIS and CAD data (e.g., Autodesk) to ensure seamless project delivery.
  • Maintain geospatial databases by cleaning, converting, and preparing GIS-ready formats.
  • Use AI-enabled tools responsibly to support documentation, research, quality control, and workflow automation while following client policies and data security guidelines.
  • Support workflow improvements using Microsoft 365 and Power Platform (dashboards, forms, automations) where appropriate.
  • Stay current with GIS trends, tools, and best practices to improve processes and solve technical challenges.

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geography, Cartography, Environmental Science, GIS, or related field — or a GIS certificate from an accredited institution.
  • At least 1 year of environmental consulting experience in the A/E/C industry or related government role supporting A/E/C projects.
  • Proficiency with ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, and Esri field tools (Survey123, Field Maps); familiarity with ArcGIS Enterprise is a plus.
  • Experience creating maps, conducting spatial analyses, and preparing GIS deliverables for technical projects.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Familiarity with publicly available GIS data sources and basic data management practices.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Willingness to learn new tools, follow documentation standards, and adhere to company technology and data-security policies.

Preferred / Desired Qualifications

  • Coursework or experience in energy, utilities, infrastructure, environmental planning, or public-agency projects.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Power Platform (Power BI, Power Automate, Power Apps, SharePoint Lists).
  • Experience using AI-enabled tools for research, documentation, coding, or data review within policy guidelines.
  • IT / desktop support, GPS troubleshooting, or hardware experience.
  • Drafting experience with AutoCAD or similar drafting tools.
  • Familiarity with Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop, 3D mapping/modeling, or relational database development.
  • Experience scripting or automating work using Python, Arcade, SQL, HTML, JavaScript, R, or similar languages.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Full-time position.
  • Base salary range: $65,000–$75,000 per year.

  • Base pay is determined by internal equity and candidate experience. Benefits and total rewards support well-being and career development.
