Overview
Confidential Client is seeking a Geotechnical Staff Engineer (early-career) to support site development and construction projects. This role combines field inspections and testing with office-based reporting and technical analysis. Strong mentorship and opportunities for professional growth are provided.
What You’ll Do
- Review engineering plans, specifications, and technical reports for geotechnical/site civil projects
- Perform field inspections and testing for fills, foundations, retaining walls, utilities, asphalt, and concrete
- Document field observations and assist with preparing technical reports and field logs
- Coordinate with project managers, contractors, and senior engineers to support project delivery
- Support quality control and assist with recommendations for remediation or design adjustments
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
- Approximately 2 years of geotechnical, site civil, or environmental experience (internship/construction experience preferred)
- EIT certification or ability/plan to pursue PE licensure
- OSHA HAZWOPER, ACI, NICET, or related certifications are a plus
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation with ability to travel to client/job sites
- Able to work safely on uneven terrain and lift up to 50 lbs when required
Technical Skills
- Familiarity with AutoCAD and Civil 3D
- Strong competency with MS Word and Excel for reporting and data management
- Exposure to geotechnical programs such as GSLOPE, Rocscience, KeyWall preferred
- Strong observational, technical writing, and interpersonal communication skills
Work Environment
- Combination of office and fieldwork; outdoor work varies by project and weather conditions
- Personal protective equipment (PPE) required for field tasks
- Typical field duties include site visits, testing oversight, and contractor coordination
Compensation & Benefits
- $55,000–$80,000 base salary (range provided by Confidential Client)
- Mileage reimbursement, benefits, PTO, tuition assistance, 401(k), and bonus potential
- Contract-to-hire or direct-hire arrangements may be available depending on client needs

Location
