Role Overview
Confidential Client is seeking a geoarchaeology specialist (field and GIS-focused) to support cultural resource and geotechnical assessments on infrastructure projects. The role blends fieldwork, GIS/mapping, technical reporting, and collaboration with project teams and clients.
What You’ll Do
- Conduct archaeological and historical fieldwork, surveys, evaluations, and documentation of cultural resources.
- Prepare technical reports, desktop studies, proposals, and other required project deliverables.
- Perform GIS and mapping work using ArcGIS Pro, Field Maps, and GPS-based data collection.
- Evaluate structures and buildings for historical and architectural significance as part of cultural resource assessments.
- Coordinate with project teams and clients to move work from fieldwork through final deliverables.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, History, Architectural History, or a related field. Master’s preferred for senior roles.
- Demonstrated experience with archaeological or historical surveys and evaluations. SOI-qualified archaeologists or historians are strongly preferred.
- Proficiency with GIS tools (ArcGIS Pro, Field Maps) and GPS data collection.
- Ability to work in both field and office/laboratory environments.
Preferred / Nice to Have
- Specialized expertise in geoarchaeology, lithic analysis, or other niche archaeological disciplines.
- Experience supporting multiple projects in a consulting environment, particularly large-scale infrastructure or transmission line projects.
- Project management or task-management experience; experience leading/coordining field crews.
- Experience preparing proposals, scopes of work, and technical cost estimates.
Day-to-day
- Lead and participate in cultural resource surveys, testing, and documentation.
- Collect and process GIS/GPS field data; produce maps and spatial deliverables.
- Draft and edit technical reports and proposal materials.
- Coordinate crew logistics, safety, and data quality during field campaigns.
- Communicate findings and timelines with internal teams and external clients.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $38,000 - $109,997 per year (DOE).
