What You’ll Do

This role supports geotechnical engineering for construction and infrastructure projects in Hawaii. Responsibilities include:

• Conduct geotechnical field investigations (borings, test pits, in-situ testing) and review subsurface conditions.
• Analyze laboratory and field data to characterize soil, rock, and groundwater conditions.
• Develop geotechnical design recommendations for foundations, retaining structures, slope stability, and earthworks.
• Prepare clear, technically robust geotechnical reports and design memoranda.
• Provide construction support and technical guidance during earthwork and foundation installation.
• Coordinate geotechnical work with civil, structural, and environmental engineering teams, contractors, and clients.
• Support project planning, budgeting, and schedule adherence.
• Engage on projects at multiple scales—from local site work to large, multi-year landmark programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering with a geotechnical emphasis, or Geotechnical Engineering.
• 0–10+ years of geotechnical engineering experience; candidates across experience levels are encouraged to apply.
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred, or ability to obtain licensure within a reasonable timeframe.
• Proficiency with geotechnical analysis methods and standard engineering tools/software.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical writing skills.
• Comfortable with fieldwork and site observation in Hawaii’s climate and terrain.
• Excellent verbal communication and teamwork skills; ability to work with multidisciplinary project teams and external stakeholders.

Level & Compensation

• Hiring at multiple experience levels (entry → senior). Responsibilities and compensation will align with education, experience, and licensure.
• Estimated base salary (for reference only): $64,779 per year — actual pay will vary by level and qualifications.
• Employment type: Full-time. Primary work location: Honolulu, HI. Some travel across Hawaiian islands and fieldwork required.
