What You’ll Do

Confidential Client is hiring an entry-level Geotechnical Engineer (hybrid). This role supports geotechnical projects across characterization, design, construction, operation, and closure of geotechnical infrastructure (including mine tailings and coal ash storage facilities). You will work with a technical team to analyze data, prepare technical reports, support field investigations, and assist with project coordination.

• Perform geotechnical analyses and develop recommendations for foundations, settlement, bearing capacity, slope stability, seepage, earth-retaining structures, embankments, dams, and related infrastructure
• Prepare technical reports, specifications, plans, and cost estimates
• Provide field support: subsurface investigations, in‑situ testing, instrumentation installation/monitoring, construction observation, surveying, materials testing, and site inspections
• Support project planning, progress tracking, scheduling, and communication with project managers, clients, contractors, and field crews
• Learn and grow through collaboration with experienced geotechnical staff and participate in professional development activities

Qualifications

Required core qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in geological engineering, geotechnical engineering, or civil engineering with a geotechnical emphasis (Master’s preferred)
• Current, valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
• Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future

Helpful (but not required):

• 1–3 years of relevant experience
• Familiarity with geotechnical software such as GeoStudio, Rocscience, FLAC, PLAXIS, gINT, or BoreDM

Location & Travel

• Work location: Hybrid arrangement; position may be based out of the Minneapolis office (this listing is for Minneapolis, MN)
• Travel: Up to 30% domestic fieldwork; average 5–10 consecutive days on site when required
• Work environment: Field conditions typical of construction/industrial sites (rough terrain, moving machinery). Ability to perform job duties with or without reasonable accommodation is required
• Employment type: Part-time (exempt/salaried classification as noted in the source posting)

Compensation & Benefits

• Anticipated salary range: $76,000–$87,000 annually. Compensation will vary based on experience, education, and other factors.
• May be eligible for discretionary cash bonus based on performance
